Entertaining fictions books... I love the Iraq has weapons of mass destruction memos/proof that were published in the media.
Christopher Columbus landing in America is actually quite amusing as most school Social Studies/ Global Studies books still hold the claim that he discovered even though he didn't. Leif Ericson had actually been there long, LONG before him, which the book will also mention (sometimes) O.o
as you can see I love Historical Fiction including a small book included in most hotel rooms.

That was a good series I read them in highschool. Also why argue over who found america just be glad you live here or maybe you would like better to live in IRAQ or maybe Cuba.

Interesting. I read the Dresden Files series, and for popcorn fiction I felt they were entertaining enough. But that's not why I'm posting.

A lot of my friends got laid off when the recession hit. If they get the flu, they'll most likely die. A great nation would not allow its citizens to suffer and perish needlessly. As for Iraq and Cuba, both of those nations are suffering as the direct result of US foreign policy or military action.
I was born and raised in America, but the idea that it's "better" than other nations demeans all other cultures on earth while simultaneously countering one of the founding principles of the country: America will succeed by striving to improve itself.
When too many people blindly agree that America is great and stop working to maintain the infrastructure that got us here, then we cease to be great, and our children die of treatable diseases or obesity-related illness. The elderly go hungry. The working class become homeless.
If I lived in Iraq then at least I could try and help rebuild the horror we wrought upon them. If it were legal, I'd send money to assist the humanitarian organizations trying to feed the starving people of Cuba, but the US government does not permit it's citizens to do that - not even by PayPal.
People like to talk about freedom a lot. I'm not free to feed the poor. Seriously, how messed up is that? Before putting down other countries, you may want to take a minute to look around yourself.

first off sorry to have this discussion in this thread I know there are better places for it but I have to respond to this. I'm not saying america is the best or that other cultures are not great in their own way. what I am saying is that given the choice (which I have) i will stay here and deal with the problems of this country rather then the problems of another country. Also as far as Iraq. They brought most of their troubles on themselves. If they would have done something to try and get rid of the terrorist groups there before they attacked america maybe we would not have bombed them and after 9/11 I say A tooth for a tooth an eye for an eye. Thats just my opinion. Now on to your wanting to help starving people in cuba. People who are charitable are great people its the only way some people survive is thanks to charity. However on that same note there are hundreds of thousands of people right here in our own country that are starving or homeless. I know our government does not help them as much as they should but they also don't stop people like you or any one else from helping if they want. You talk about bettering america and keeping it a good place. Well I think feeding our own people is one of the first ways to do that don't you? and last but not least. Your friends that lost jobs, I am sorry for their loss but I don't mean to sound nasty but there are jobs out here I know for a fact friends of mine have lost jobs recentley and have found new ones. People just have to learn how to do work they don't want to do anymore. Now just so you know I am legally blind I can't get a job so I live off a disabillity check thats like $600.00 a month. Now if I can survive off of that kind of money then I've just proven its possible. So again I am sorry for discussing this here. Just had to put this out there in response.
