Margaret Weis and Tracey Hickman are my favs, especially when they work together. Most notably would be their work on the ever popular Dragonlance saga, but their best works are the lesser known Darksword Trilogy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darksword) or The Death Gate Cycle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Death_Gate_Cycle) where their imaginations have room to soar. Any fantasy fans should def look into their collected works.

My favorite authors would have to be:
James Patterson (for the book The Jester) His writing is great, the only thing is he happens to overuse previous descriptions whenever a similar situation that appears in his novel prior arises.

Edgar Allen Poe (for The Fall of The House of Usher and The Cask of Amontillado)

Stephen King (for various books I used to collect and love. His best novel to me was The Eyes of The Dragon which I got an F for in school because we were supposed to write a book on Huck Finn but since I hate that book and feel it is overused I wrote my report on The Eyes of The Dragon stating near the end "which is why I find this book more worth my time.")

Jane Yolen: Magic Three of Solatia. A very good book and I must say she is a wonderful Author. Her descriptions are great but not like Tolkien's 1 chapters describing a shire.

Andre Norton. I have quite a few of her books and must say I feel in love with them. A Taste of Magic was great, The Three Hands of Scorpio I'm still reading.

I highly, HIGHLY reccomend reading Sun Tzu's The Art of War, which can be read for free in an accurate translation at Sonshi.Com.

Also, have a look at Morehei Ueshiba's The Art of Peace. There are online translations of it for free, too.

There's also Hagakure : In the Shadow of Leaves, which doesn't have any 'one' author.

Stone Cold
06-07-2009, 12:34 AM
Stone Cold's favorite author is... Stone Cold of course! Stone Cold has written a book all about Stone Cold. With the help of some worthless person who doesn't deserve mentioning, but Stone Cold wrote the jist of it.

XD I have a big book with the Art of War and the other 6 military classic of ancient China. Compiled and translated by Ralph D. Sawyer (Any One Piece fans be shocked!)

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - Sherlock Holmes. I have all the Holmes novels and they're much much better than what I heard, which is good because I heard they were brilliant XD

Dante - The Divine Comedy. This book is both hilarious and scary at the same time, which is rare to me.

Shakespeare - All of them. Do I really need to say anything other than his name?

Agatha Christie - Poirot. He's no Holmes but he's good.

Miguel De Cervantes - Don Quixote. If you ever find as much of a character in a book than Don Quixote I'll be very suprised. He attacks windmills because he thinks they're evil giants in disguise.

Charles Dickins - any. Need I say any more?

Homer - Iliad + Odyssey.

S.D.Perry - The Resident Evil novels.

Edogawa Rampo - Kogoro Akechi novels. I haven't read them but they're supposed to be really good. They were also an inspiration in Detective Conan so they must be good XD

If I think of any more then I'll post them.

Cant beat with a large beating stick the comic genious of Robert Asprin, Peirce Anthony and Craig Shaw Gardner. For a historic spin on a modern America read Terry Goodkinds Sword of truth series.

Wells (The Time Machine, The Invisible Man, and War of the Worlds), Karen Traviss (Republic/Imperial Commando books) and Dan Brown (The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, and The Lost Symbol).
