you're right; since this doesnt seem to be in the other emulator threads here's a mirror, although I recommend using 1.7.0 or even 1.5.2 instead

FF7 switches discs fine in ePSXe 1.70, so why would you want to use ePSXe 1.6 just for that game?

Hit Esc and go to file--change disc--select ISO and select disc 2 or whatever disc you are on next.

When this happened with me most games ask you to save first. when I do i shut down the emulator and restart it and select disc 2 and it starts up and plays just fine.

That's what I do when you save at the end of a disc and it won't switch

I found that you don't have to switch to the earlier 1.6 epsxe (which isn't good for anything but disc changes at this point). Since some games work better on other emulators, you may already have another Playstation emulator that can do the disc change.
I have epsxe 1.7 which has nicer graphic options that can clean up some of the warping textures etc., and I also have PSX Fin (which is in the emulator section here on coolroms) which I use for games that don't really need to be improved thusly (like non-polygonal games) or simply don't work right with epsxe (resident evil is impossible for me to get working right with epsxe).
Now, epsxe 1.7 can't do disc changes, but PSX Fin can. I just save my game just prior to the disc swap, turn epsxe off, start up PSX Fin, go through the disc change (I have them both use the same memory card files), then switch back.
That way you don't have a basically useless version of epsxe sitting in your hard drive taking up space.
