View Full Version : How do I Make a RAR file with different Parts?

Hey Guys Here is what I need to know, Please help me if you can!

How do I take a LARGE File or Folder, and make it into a multiple part RAR file that will self extract as one?

--I Have downloaded a lot of stuff of the web like iso's and stuff, that come in RAR files or 7zip in like 6,7 or more parts, and you just right click part one and extract it and it automatically extracts ALL parts as one to get the final file
(example: downloaded "MYCD" as "MYCD.rar.001, MYCD.rar.002,ect. OR MYCD.rar.part1, MYCD.rar.part2,ect.)

So what i want to know is how to take a file and do this myself. Anyone experienced with this?

Use 7z, when you click "add to archive..." just select what the size of the compressed files.

Winrar has an option to do the same thing. I usually break it up into 1.44MB packages and rar those small ones up into a single package.

I know that a lot of things that are copressed really good have lots of archives. You extract like 20 files from the first 5, and 50 files from the 20. At the end it's compressed really good, at least for that size.
