I've been trying to decide whether to get a PSP or not, it just seems that there's aren't many good games out for it right now.
I can imagine myself getting a PSP and doing nothing with it.
So my questions is, are there many good games out for the PSP? Or is there something that one can do with a PSP that would make it a worthwhile purchase?

I have a PSP and a DS and i personally think the PSP beats the crap outta the DS. Games I have Medievil(my fav) megaman maverick x, pop revelations, thug2 remix, Burnout which is really really good, metal gear acid which is kinda lame, Twisted metal which is pretty good, and GTA which is cool but has a lame tracer effect to it. Also movie quality if yer interested is great, and u can browse internet put photos on it music etc. I think the PSP is worth it. Who cares if most the games are ports there still fun.

oo! thats pretty cool.
The Sony conference that happened yesterday also showed ALOT of new features that will come to the PSP soon; like:

- Ability to use PSP as a video phone

- An improved web browser with possible flash compatability

- A PSP eyetoy

- Downloadable PSP games from an online store

- An official PS1 emulator, with downloadable PS1 games.

- The abilbity to boot from the memory stick (Presumably specific applications)

- Voice-over-ip support for voice chatting

:D

Now I just have to save up enough money to get a PSP...

I like DS is better than PSP because it has many games that aren't too hard to get into. My PSP is just sitting on my nightstand and gathering dust, while I use my DS a lot more often. But, this may only be so due to the fact that the only software I have is three games for PSP, and all of them aren't that good. Also, my neck hurts after looking down at the PSP after half an hour and my arms become fatigued from holding it up. There isn't a good grip on the system like on DS, as PSP is smoother. And, the buttons on the PSP just seem out of whack somehow. Don't get me wrong, if I had the Internet service and better games, I would like PSP alot more than DS. It's just that DS is better to me right now.

Yeah, it's just personal preference. I've seen the ds in action and I own a psp. I personally like my psp for the videos, mp3s, games, web, and more. The ds does have that touch screen so the games are more interactive which can make them more fun than some of the titles on the psp. And yes, a lot of the titles on the psp are ports so it kinda sucks and a lot of the games aren't that worth well to purchase. The only game I have on psp is ridge racer. On the other hand, you have tons of homebrews and emulators you can put on your psp and play old school games :).

I disagree Ridley, While the ps2 is highly overrated by fanboys, the ps2 and psp are great systems. You cant tell me that there isnt great games for both of em.
Get a PSP in your hand and play one of the megamans or the new syphon filter then try and tell me that the psp is ****.

Yeah I mean come on, sony came out with their very first system (the ps1) some years back and that thing lasted a loonngg time even after the ps2 came out, now that's success for a company that originally did not start out in the video game industry and ps2 was just as successful if not more. PSP on the other hand doesn't seem like it's doing so hot but it is still a very cool piece of device to have :).

Please tell me you're joking when you say that PSP has good games.
All I've seen so far are REMAKES of OLDER games.
As for the PS1 emulation..?
A cheap way to try and keep the PSP afloat.
Voice Chat? DS already has that.
Downloadable games? DS can also do that.
Everything else is just bleh. It seems as if PSP is going to become like that one handheld that doubled as a cellphone and crud (the name escapes me because I think it's a piece of crap).

Does DS really have voice chat?

I think the PSP is becoming sort of a joke in the non-gaming public eye.

I saw a commercial that kinda proves this point. It depicted a woman who was having a baby shower or whatever you call it, and she was opening some presents and whatnot. She opened up clothes, a toaster, and other junk. Then she got a PSP and she was all smiling like she got some hyped-up cell phone or PDA (no matter what you think, your life is never important enough to have a PDA.) She probably had no interest in using it for gaming. Ok, so maybe she will use it for movies, right? Probably not, she was in a nice house and either she could watch it on that big ass tv or she could watch a two hour movie in 2 minute intervals as she wanders around town or something. Maybe music? I doubt it. She could have just as easily bought an Ipod, which would be immensly better at music playing and would be easier to carry and use. People are treating the PSP as some gadget that people will buy and it will end up either lost or being ignored and having 200 billion scratches on it.

I think the PSP has good games, but there are too few. There is always the tech demo type games you get with new systems like that bomb diffusal one and Blazing Angels for Xbox 360, but those should be gone by now. Some games I think are good are: GTA: LCS, Burnout Legends, and Twisted Metal (I never liked the evil clown theme, but oh well)

Well I don't know what Sony's intention was for making the psp (I'm assuming it should have been gaming but yea, that's going down hill..) was but I mean as long as it is making the owner happy, who cares. And about voice chat? something called a cell phone people. Does the DS have emulators playable on it? and if it does, do they run well? (and these are questions, not like mocking questions) I'd say DS's true advantage over the psp in gaming is the touch screen because it makes games a lot more interactive than the psp can do for games. PSP's advantage over the ds is more in the multimedia area like mp3s, videos, and ability to browse the web and such. Gaming wise though, yes I do agree it's weak. Get your butt's into gear Sony!!?!!

They had the guts to break into the gaming industry. >.>
Nintendo freaking wrote the book for this industry.. I don't think it'll go down easily. They know what they're doing.
I'll be a "Nintendo Knight" forever. >=3

because they cant hack that sony can make media devices OTHER than games consoles. they act like the fact that they are anal about nintendo makes the company better, when the majorety of them own a PS2 and/or PSP anyway.

PS: obv the next few posts are going to be fanboys claiming they have never owned any thing sony, dont be alarmed fanboys can get quite emotional when talking about there only faithfull love (nintendo)

I don't dislike any system; I just love games in general. I ended up having all of this generation's consoles and I probably will get all of next generation's consoles eventually also.

Besides, SEGA (a.k.a. Service Games) is better than all of you, so HA!

lol can't we all just get along? :)

SONY FOREVER!! (not)

I will say I have been disapointed at sony though, especially when it comes to the psp, very little effort it seems to make better games for it, instead they bring updated ports, whoopi!.

But come on people, if you say that the PS1 and PS2 weren't done well, you are just jealous or full of it and yea pretty much everyone owns or have owned one of these systems.

BTW, SEGA?!? what happened yo? genesis = awesome games, saturn = ???

PSP is a horrible trip... I had one actually... i won it from a town fair for 6 bucks. It was all good in the beginning but the games were really lacking replay value and they got boring real fast... so i sold it. I've tried every aspect of the console, all sorts of homebrew, upgrade downgrade, isos w/e, was nice but the PSP is way to limited by its crappy umd format... i didn't pay 50+ dollars (CAD) for a umd game just to watch it load.

Won the thing for 6 bucks, bought around 150 for games, sold it for 270 ;) (v1.5 though...)

I still have my psp and the only reason why i still have it is cus of the home brews and emus, though I use it for music and movies as well (dl'd stuff, not umds). But yea if your strickly looking for games to play for a handheld then yea psp doesn't look like its going to last too long unless sony's got some secret recipe cookin up.

I would only see that happening if Nintendo stopped DS game production and Sony focused on PSP games for a few months...

lol man we've really gotten off topic here..

Hm good games for psp.. I heard Lumines was really good and I guess if you like Metal gear solid and mix that with an rpgish feel, MGA 2 is suppose to be alright.

If you like being bloody and killing many people, buy Siphon Filter. If you like mass cursing, buy Siphon Filter. If you like the unique sound of gunshots being played out of a headphone-type speaker, buy Siphon Filter. If you are a confused goldfish lover in a game store, buy Siphon Filter. If you really like the color grey, buy Siphon Filter.

...I don't like Siphon Filter:p
