can i use a joystick or gamepad on mame or is it just keyboard? if it's just keyboard...damn that sucks:mad2:

You can use joystick. But you have to change some configurations in the emulator itself.

MAME is incredebly versatile. I'm trying to figure out how to wire up a roller controller right now...
If I knew what the hell that was, I could totally help you.

Also known as a spinner - I think some old centepied cabinets used it.
Oh, man. I gotta get my hands on one of those. Do you need help configuring it in-game with the TAB button menu or is the MAME32 system not accepting it as a valid controller? Are you even using MAME32?

I'm actualling looking into wiring it up from scratch into a serial port. If I could find a pre-soldered USB interface that would be beyond cool, but I've yet to come across somthing like that. It's going to go into my cocktail cabinet that I'm eventually making.

You can use both joystick and gamepad.
