I need help getting my epsxe170 emulator to work

When i try to load a game it gives me a black screen then it says the program is not responding.. what do i do?

What plugin are you using?

It usually does that to me when i launch a game for the first time. i usually just wait a few minutes and it launches. on my laptop it tends to launch with the screen messed up the first time. if it does that then just hit esc, then go to run on the emulator and then continue. should pick right up
