Hello peoples. I have recently 'bought' Morrowind. I haven't played it much, but I wanted to get some advice. First of all, WTH do you do!? Do you do the quests they ask you? Is that how I'm to get money? Or do I have to rob the stores and houses? ( heh... that was fun ). And what would you people rate this game from one to ten?
P.S. Is there a manuel or guide for this game? And are there a lot of mods?

Whoa...Morrowind is a very complex and life-comprehensive game. I, too, have it for Xbox, but there is too much to tell. It didn't come with a manual, I don't think. Just go with the flow...the game has a short tutorial in the beginning. It's an adventuring game...and it's REALLY fun! I just don't know where to start! Cheating my enchant skill up, enchanting and naming weapons names like *******ter, *****slayer, ****smasher, and up yours. Fun stuff, the adventure. Join guilds, play the game of life. Very fun game.
As for how to beat the game...my signature used to say this:
"Dagoth Ur welcomes you, Nerever, my old friend. But to this day where destiny is made, why have you come unprepared?" When you hear that statement in the game, that means you have confronted the end of the game. It doesn't look like a beatable game, but as you go along, you begin to learn more about the rearising Sixth House.
I once killed some guy with a poison blade so green gass was floating out of his crack. I hit him so hard, he was sliding up the stairs while the green gas was rippin' out of his crack; it look like I hit him so hard he farted while he died, sliding up the stairs! Holy **** that was so funny!!!
I wanted to join Dagoth Ur, for I thought he was misunderstood. He was evil, but he was like me in many ways, or at least compared to CM. This is a picture of him.

I have to go to bed now. I'll answer your reply tomorrow.
*Discovers diarrhea wiped all over the toilet seat.

Is this game an action RPG like Fable? My guy in Fable is the evilest evil in the land, who owns (and taxes to extinction) one city and has cleansed another city of all life (and he loves meat!) He is like me compared to Iconoclast! Interesting, indeed.
pizzaman: Why do you put the word "bought" in quote thingies?

yup, its certainly an amazing game. i beat it for the xbox, then i got it for the pc and cheated the hell out of it...it was fun to practically fly around and enhance my stats whenever i wanted to! personally, i liked that game A LOT more than grand theft auto. no crappy music for one thing...
as for what to do, do whatever you want! do the guild quests, wander around...but the main quest is enjoyable too.
no cm, its not like fable. fable promised so much, but i was very disappointed by it. dont get me wrong, it was a very fun game, but it was way too short and didnt provide near the open endedness as i thought it would have. it was basically a linear path with a few sidequests. normally i don't mind that at all (i love final fantasy) but i had been reading about that game a years before it came out, drooling over the possibilities...only to learn upon playing it that it wasnt what was promised. though i must ask, are you playing the rereleased version? i think that there is slightly more content in that, i never played it. morrowind, on the other hand, is truly open ended. go wherever, do whatever.

I am playing the original version. I like to find new ways to play Fable. In this one setup I have, my guy is the evil mayor of Oakvale (the town you start in.) By mayor, I mean I have the house on the hill at the fanciest level and I own every ownable building in the entire town. I collect insane amounts of money through taxes. Also, I killed eveyone in Hook Coast and made it a creepy ghost town. I don't like how the people take a long time to come back, though. I DO like strolling around in the morning, collecting taxes with no pants on. The breeze is quite refreshing.
Soooo....how do you control your character? Do you tell him actions from a menu, or do you control him and attack directly with button presses?

Thanks guys, but I wanted to know more of what to do. Like do I just follow what's in my journal? How can I get a better weapon? Why do I have to hit like 5 times before my weapon does damage?
CM, it's first prespective. You use the mouse to look around.
Oh, God. If you want to learn the storyline and crap, just start from the beginning and MEMORIZE EVERY GODAMN WORD THEY SAY. When the first guard captain dude tells you to do him an errand, take a silkstrider (?) to the city he tells you to go to, I forgot the name. After that, join the Warrior's or Mage's guild. After there, the storyline is fairly straightforward. Just do what the NPCs tell you to do.
I "bought" it about five months ago and it was a blast. 9/10
I also suggest you "buy" Baldur's Gate.
BTW, pizzaman, just PM me if you have any, ahem, P2P/torrenting questions.

Yes you do, but the combat method is pretty hard. I miss most of the blows I give with my axe and longsword. :mad:You must practice on less agile creatures such as the mudcrab and scrib. As you hit them with these blades, the skill for the type of weapon you're using will increase, and you will be stronger and more capable of hitting your enemies with your weapons. I would suggest starting out practicing with the blade of your major and minor skills. Since it is already a major or minor skill, it will be better to improve your strengths and you will gain levels. If you ever get stuck on something in the game, I can help you. For now, I don't quite have time to explain everything.

Agile means you are good at hitting your opponent rather than missing and you can dodge others' attacks. An example of weak creatures you should practice on are the mudcrab, scrib, and kwama forager.

Oh I never knew that. What is the easiest camera to control?
First is mainly for precision things like using magic or bows and picking things up; Third person is for melee combat and everything else. My advice is to use third person until you feel your view is constricted, then switch over to first.

I might play it a bit later though, if I'm bored. It's boring at first, because you don't have any weapons, spells, or armor, plus you don't know where to go until you start talking to people. Just give it a chance and you'll love it, I did, it's one of the best games I've ever played...no joke.
It helps to play metal in the background, gives it a sorta surreal feel to it. That being said, this is probably in the top 10 RPGs ever made.
I had Morrowind AND Oblivion, but both got deleted and then, later, stolen along with my CD case.

You don't have to pay, but if you do you get about twice the stuff. This game is about completing the quests, which are pretty easy to do. I suggest you try it out, you might like it.
I haven't played Runescape in about a year. I left while I was in the #7 ranked clan, right before they fell apart (thank God!). Before they crumbled, the member requirement level went from 60 magic/range/70 str, def, and att. to 70 magic/range, or 75 str, def and attack, which was pretty rediculous as in half the members got kicked out for not meeting the requirements.
I still have several millions cash and a santa hat on that game, but I don't plan on playing it 'till November, if I haven't amassed enough money from my job to buy and sustain WoW. I'll probably start again in early December, when Santa prices skyrocket and I can sell it.

That's quite a bit of stuff. How'd you get your money, PKing?
No, I don't PK anymore. Used to, and it got me my first granite maul, dragon scimitar, and abyssal whip, in that order. Now, I only merchant unidentified herbs and duel (mid-level stakes, 3 mil or under). I hope the herb market hasn't changed much before I left, or I'll have to rely singularly on dueling, which I am not NEARLY as good at as I am merchanting.

I know what your talking about. I would go on my friend's member account and run laws. Then I would sell them for 500 GP each. When in reality they cost 300 GP each. Almost double profit.

do you really need to read that terms of agreement thing? or can someone some it up for me
The funny thing, Pizzaman, is that I have exceedingly low stats. But I have enough money so that it doesn't matter; when I duel I usually leave Potions and Food on, and bring manta rays, Super Strength and Def potions, have a full set of Torag's armor with a whip and a Guthix kite (I change to a Granite Shield if my opponent's archery is high) and turn magic off. If I'm fighting magic on, I bring black dragonhide, Karil's crossbow and a magic shortbow, and lots of Entanglement and Saradomin Strike spells. I always turn prayer off, because I have a fairly low prayer level and hate defense prayers.
In merchanting, I have one continued strategy. I stand outside World 2 Falador East Bank, shouting out "Buying unids over ranarr, 2k per - sev(Severus222 being my name, a friend suggested it on the grounds that it was funny... which it isn't)". After that, when I amass 5000+ unids over ranarr (using anti-scam, of course) I sell them all for 2.65k+ each to hardcore potion makers. It is certainly the second best way of making money in the game, short of super high stake (Party Hat high) dueling.
I only merchanted for about a month and made more than 15 million, some of which I spent gathering the materials to get 82 magic.

Since there isn't Xbox live for Morrowind, I don't THINK so. We never subscribed for Xbox live on Xbox, only Xbox 360. Or maybe it applies to both. I don't know much about that kind of stuff.
Help people out and sell crap you pick up throughout the game is a pretty basic way to put it. But if you want to get into the details of cheating, that's different. Naclarya of White Haven has 3,000 gold, so if you've got some alchemy stuff to sell that hardly anyone can afford, barter with her.
Do you mean 'rip' as in 'fart', or 'talk'? I don't think so, but if you press Start to pause, Options, you can control the volume of characters' voices.
No, not in Morrowind, but Oblivion, yes.
The Third Era, a hell of a long time ago.
I hear that you can't infinitely fortify your skill using a fortify skill spell, which you can only get in four ways. Zero ways, for me, as I have the standard version of Morrowind. The expansions, I think, give you more places to go, such as this place I hear of known as 'Mournhold'.

In Morrowind, what I did was I enchanted different parts of my armor. I enchanted my helmet with Mysticism magic to make it white, cuirass with Conjuration to make it yellow, greaves with alteration to make it purplse, yadayada I am like a rainbow dremora or something. The glow in the enchantment, the best official armor in Morrowind, Daedric, if you're a heavy armor person. If you are a medium armor person, you want Orcish. If you're a light armor person, you want glass or bound armor.

The purpose is to follow the path of the Blades, complete all of Caius Cosades' orders, and you'll run into how to beat the game. You will learn of the Sixth House and Dagoth Ur, its leader.
My mom has millions of gold.
I know what the most expensive item in Morrowind is, something even the drunken talking mudcrab, who sells for 10,000 gold, can't afford. Azura's Star, with Vivec soultrapped, which is I can't remember either worth 2,000,000 or 6,000,000 ****ing gold.I've heard of a talking mudcrab, where is it?

I've heard of a talking mudcrab, where is it?Ah, I can't remember. It looks like any regular mudcrab, only it doesn't attack you and you can talk to it. It barters for 10,000 gold. It's in southeast Morrowind SOMEWHERE...I can't really remember. It's on an island south of the mainland of Morrowind, southeast roughly. Sorry; I don't know any more than that.

No, Morrowind is for Xbox.
Xbox | Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (Game of the Year 2002)
Xbox 360 | Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Morrowind and Oblivion are also for the PC, just so you know.

Even though the graphics are awesome, you need to read A LOT to complete the game. I never got very far because I'm not used to FPS (in this case, first-person slasher) games, and I always get kinda nervous when I'm attacked. The monsters are so big...
I prefer Baldur's Gate.

You can zoom out on both of them.

Yeah I know, but it's kinda tricky to point at stuff with the third person camera

Yeah, that's why I switch back and forth. I don't like the fighting style though, too hard to hit people.

It has nothing to do with how you aim. Point your weapon at the enemy, click the mouse button and if your skill with that weapon is high enough, if you're lucky and if the enemy is not too strong you will hit.

Well I haven't really played Morrowind that much, so you're probably right. I do, however, like Oblivion's combat style better then Morrowind's.

Oblivion seems awesome, I'd get it if I had a better computer.
I think I'll start playing Morrowind again now that I have finished San Andreas. I just can't decide wether to play as a fighter or a thief, they're both equally fun. I don't like to play as a mage, but I always learn alteration, restoration and sometimes enchant.
TIP: Do not ignore Speechcraft. It's one of the most useful skills in the game.

Quick thing, the best armor is a rip off >> You can enchant something with a bound "Item" and you pretty much have the best armor/sword... just put it on constant effect and boom, perma armor, no repairs, no weight, and no pumping required....
