So there we go. We now have a thread about about Hockey.
Hockey is a bit weird for me. In any other sport if they fight like they do in a Hockey match, players would be suspended for multiple games. Sometimes I see video of things being thrown onto the ice. Hats, and Octopus. Octopus!!!!!! WTH is that about. Hockey is just foreign to me. Maybe you can shed some light.

I only ever played street hockey (in an actual court) and I haven't done that since I was a kid. That was actually my favorite sport but I moved and I couldn't get anyone else to play; basketball was was too dominate year round. Personally the typical basketball player attitude annoys me, but to each his own.
So no, I don't play anymore. But if you start a hocley team, I'm in. ;)

Can't say I'm too big of a fan, nor do I play. But, I hear it's pretty popular in Canada. And that's about it.

One of the great regrets of my life is not playing hockey as a kid. I grew up in Michigan, I've loved the Red Wings since they blew it in '94, but I've never played a game of hockey in my life. I can skate a little, but... Is it too late??

Let's see if I can answer some of this for you Klen...
The fighting is a way to motivate your team and to protect your more skilled players. The other team's enforcer is gonna lay off the big hits on Chris Drury if Sean Avery beats the crap outta him. (For the record, I don't like Avery, just the Rangers)
Hats being thrown on the ice is for when a player scores a hat-trick, (3 goals in one game) which is pretty hard to do in the league now.
The octopus is from waaaaaay back in the old days. It's eight legs are supposed to symbolize the 8 wins it used to take to win the Stanley Cup. You mostly see the octopus in Detroit.
That help? If you guys didn't notice, it's a bad idea to get me started on hockey. I usually don't stop.

I'm going to bring this thread back to life. Sort of. Anyways, I did not start playing hockey until I was 25 years old. No kidding. I already knew how to skate. I just didn't know how to play. There are local learn how to play programs in your area, but costs vary.
Bottom line, its never too late to try or play.
