i like the graphics of resident evil, the backgrounds are really well done and i like the graphics of lineage...hehehehehe....what do you think about the graphics of tibia? the graphics of tibia where really bad years ago...today they look like they were made for snes or sega. But for me the best one is Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks, the graphics are very good

Cave Story.
More jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring, memorable than realistic. But if I wanted reality it's right outside my front door anyway.
I just really like sprites of giant eye-things that keep an island floating.
But if you've got beef with that I'll say Half-Life 2.

Quake 4? Your all joking right? Kameo elements of power has way better graphics than that so do many others. Farcry and oblivion both smoke q4 in the graphics department. I own q4 but man do i regret paying for it. Dont get me wrong the graphics are great, but the gameplay is repetive and boring. I felt the same way about doom3.

does fmv scenes count? Then I'd have to say the cut scenes from FF X and X2. What freakin insane skills those guys have at square-enix.
Gameplay wise, Id have to say Resident Evil 4 (on cube, not ps2), or Doom 3.

Oblivion for 360 is flawed in many ways, but not in the graphics department. Very, very good graphics.

man i want to play oblivion so bad...from everything ive read the flaws are very minor, and easily overlooked when taken with the entire package.
ffVII had, for its time, the most amazing graphics available, and it is basically the game that started cinematic gaming

Oblivion is a pretty good game, yes. There are flaws, but they are relatively easy to overlook, for the most part. Scaling is teh suck, but I guess you can't have it all.

Does no one remember Fred Savage? That was a dumb question, but when I first saw the screen in "The Wizard" Super Mario Bros. 3 looked amazing.
"You mean the 8-bit Nintendo I already have will do this!" I may have actually said that, but if not then I am saying it now.
Look at the fabulous 3D backgrounds

That's the SNES version tho...
Final Fantasy Seven looks ugly, the characters have crappy anime hair and huge hands. And you can barely tell what most of the things were until you see them in battle.
Cutscenes don't really count. I mean if we counted Cutscenes, Final Fantasy XI and World of Warcraft would be right up there, but ingame they look basic.
I'll name some when I think of them.

I think I can honestly say, that the most visually pleasing game I've ever played... is A Link to the Past.
What?? I don't play new games, and 3D is overrated.

Serious SAm 2 probably has the most realistice archtecture, mapping, and charature models. the animations suck, the killing engine is unbeleivably poor, but this game is one of the most effecient ive ever played. My computer, which only has a fairly dated 128 card, can run the game at an unbeleivable resolution with the highest settings, and everything i've mentioned before looks amazing, with flawless performance. what's the point of seing the veins i the eys of your enemy when they only move at 3 frames per second?

Final Fantasy XII, Twilight Princess, Final Fantasy X, and maybe some others.

For me, the game with the best graphics aesthetically has to be Sin and Punishment (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sin_and_Punishment).
Most of the graphics in that obscure Japanese N64 game, are indescribable. Like, they are THAT technically impressive, that you'd wonder how the Nintendo 64 is capable of them. Like, all the insane motion blur, dynamic lighting, dithered alpha (like the water and other particle effects), coronas (lens flare), and other crazy effects just added for the sake of them..Makes me wonder whether the game is just a really advanced tech demo. Or maybe the Japanese are plain smart...Either way, it always leaves me gobsmacked every time I play through it, due to the sheer beauty of its visuals, and how the coders managed to add all the effects, without a single framerate drop.
