I say FF series only because I love FF characters PLUS Ive never actually had my hands on a game controller and played the DQ games myself.

Hi
I love DQ.
And I also love FF
I think itīs unfair to say if one series itīs better than the other.
both are wonderful if you ask me, but DQ games have never been as present in america as FF.
Thatīs all.

I ain't really played the Dragon Quest game, but I have played and beat most of the Final Fantasy games. It ain't really fair of me to say that FF is better cause I ain't played the DQ games, but from what I have seen of them I would say that I would like FF better.

The FF series as a whole wins easily but any RPG enthusiast should play through Dragon Quest VIII at least once. Its truly a fantastic game with great graphics, game play and a storyline that keeps you coming back for more. Just when you think you've beaten the game a new twist comes up and your hooked all over again.

I've seen used copies at Game Stop for about $20.00. Its well worth the money. One thing, this is a long game ( thats a good thing in my book ) so be prepared for a long haul before you see the ending credits.

Sounds good! What are the games in the series? Is it just like Dragon Quest, Dragon Quest II, and so on?

Some of them are Dragon Warrior games that were only released in Japan ( Most have been translated I think. V is a great pick up ) and when one was released in the US it was changed to Dragon Quest and usually parts of the story lines and graphics were changed/altered because of religious and or sexual themes.
Par for the course in the big N's case. They did the same things with most of the FFs too.

Wow, I never even noticed that. Well you do have to remember, that any FF game before FFVII was 2-D, so they just probably made everybody the same color.

So are there any versions that are only Japanise? Which system are these for, besides DC?

I don't think its racist so much as most games are/have been in the past made by Asian and or White people. Things have changed over the last few years and we've seen many games with people of color and more adult themes.

DC? They came out on the Super Famicon/SNES.

But that shows how much I know about the series. I kinda gave up after I beat FF3 for the fifth time. I downloaded all the PSX games, I just can't bring myself to play the damn things.

I never liked the Final Fantasy serie, but I'm a BIG fan of Dragon Quest. Believe it or not, but in Japan Dragon Quest, or Dragon Warrior as it is called there, is much bigger than Final Fantasy....

Believe it or not, but in Japan Dragon Quest, or Dragon Warrior as it is called there, is much bigger than Final Fantasy....I was never a big Final Fantasy fan either, after III got boring. I do, however, like I+II for the GBA. Hella fun. When Dragon Warrior 3 got ported to the GBC, I played that game nonstop for weeks. I still play it on and off whenever I get a chance. I played most of the other games in the series, but for some reason, none of them had the same appeal to me. I might give them a try now that my job doesn't start for a while and I have a bit of spare time, though.
Elric, I would probably give Vagrant Story an nine out of ten, because I haven't played the whole thing through yet. I will when I get a chance, though.

Look up Dragon Quest on Wikipedia. You will be surprised, they WORSHIP the game in Japan.
