Ok, not sure what the issue is but the roms (specifically Kill Instinct gold) are coming out slow or not at all. I'm using project 64 and tried to use others but its the only one that will even run KI gold. Also, can't find DreamCast roms/iso's.... Any suggesions?

Some ROMs are unsupported or roughly and inconsiderably supported by Project64. I am currently downloading the ROM. I have several solutions in mind and am searching for the best one. If you have any other questions about Nintendo 64 Emulation, post them in the Best Nintendo 64 Emulation thread in the PC Gaming/Emulation forum.

U R linking everything to PC Gaming/Emulation forum but how is a PC a console?? It should be in Console Gaming/Emulation ;). Unless the N64 is a PC, of course :P...

Oh, no, Kameo, I'm not trying to do this just because that's the forum I moderate or anything.Ok, not sure what the issue is but the roms (specifically Kill Instinct gold) are coming out slow or not at all. I'm using project 64 and tried to use others but its the only one that will even run KI gold. Also, can't find DreamCast roms/iso's.... Any suggesions? He says he's having difficulty in Project64 playing the games on his PC, not his N64. That's why I asked him to put this in PC Gaming/Emulation.
I see that none of my ideas will work in Project64. Take my advice: Don't use Project64! It is an emulator issue for the game to run slow. Unless you can tolerate the speed, I recommend using 1964. Your speed problem is fixed when using that emulator. You'll find that most of the time, ROM emulation glitches can be fixed by using a different emulator. But unless that's the only way, you do not want to go by that way. In this case, you should be OK with 1964. Download it from http://www.emulator-zone.com. It's in the N64 section somewhere at the bottom.

Yeah, I think 64 emulation would entail using a 64 to emulate, say, SNES.

Look, Console Gaming and Emulation issues or just normal threads don't belong in a PC Gaming/Emulation thread. If that was the case U don't need any other sections because 99% of the emulators run on a PC.
If U speak of PC Emulation then U R talking about Commodore64, Amiga, Atari800 and so on, those R PC's, not consoles. PlayStation, DreamCast, N64, SNES and so on, they R consoles, threads about these systems go in the Console Gaming/Emulation section.
There´s a big difference between console emulation and PC emulation, I suggest U learn it...

Oh. So emulating Nintendo 64 games on your PC is not considered PC Gaming/Emulation? It is not the same thing as PC Emulation, for God sake! The '/' symbol means that the thread is called PC Gaming OR Emulation, but not PC Emulation. In the end of this long mathematical equation, it boils down that emulating Nintendo 64 games on your PC is considered both PC Gaming and Emulation (without the PC). I suggest you learn to make your corrections proper corrections, not ones that make me waste my time like I am now. I believe you tend to overuse the phrase, "Learn from it." I have autistic learning disabilities, and even I was able to patiently show that I must have overestimated what some of you have learned. Thank you for your time and consideration, and sorry if what I have said here has angered you in any way. Yet, anger is a disability, a learning disability within some cases. Nevertheless, thank you, as well, for your attempted correction, for without one's nerve to do so, my ideas would be uncorrected and so full of flaws.
Let us know if you have further problems, FireMage.

Console Gaming/Emulation is difference from PC Gaming/Emulation because you are playing Nintendo 64 games on your goddamn PC, not the actual N64. '/' means or. 'and/or' means and/or. There is a difference. You have to say and/or in order to say and/or. '/' means or, as something has to. Even if '/' is and/or, that means PC Gaming and/or Emulation, not PC Gaming and/or PC Emulation. You cheated. You can't just copy the PC to the right side of the equation! Unless you're saying '/' means 'and/or PC'. Methinks you know what I'm talking about and that there is no need to argue about something so pointless as this, excluding the fact that you know '/' means 'or' and not 'and/or'. Unless you can find a website to back up as evidence. Like I said, even if '/' is 'and/or', that ain't enough here. PC Gaming and/or Emulation means emulation in general, playing games, such as N64 ROMs, on your PC, or both. Can you deny it? Now enough of this immature arguing, unless you want me to get down to 2 + 2 is 4 to prove this stuff or something. The more you keep this up, the more I see myself having overestimated your forseeing the end of this argument and who has the point here.

Hehe this is absoludacris! Man. Can the person who created the forum categories just come in and say - "This is what I meant"
I mean I know this is pointless and silly bickering but I can't help but post about it!
You have a set of forums divided thusly:
Gaming & Emulation
Console Gaming/Emulation: Talk about gaming on consoles or emulating consoles
Arcade Gaming/Emulation:Talk about gaming on arcade cabinets or emulating arcade cabinets
PC Gaming/Emulation: Talk about gaming on the PC or emulating PCs
Handheld Gaming/Emulation: Talk about gaming on handheld systems or emulating handheld systems
Now, if you follow Iconoclast logic - you could throw all handheld and arcade emulation into PC Gaming/Emulation because you can't emulate any other environments on a handheld or arcade cabinet. So, I ask - why have those two categories labled with "Emulation"?

Handheld is like Gameboy or something I think, which means emulation on handheld 'consoles'...I hope. As for arcade...that's usually for arcade-like video game platforms like MAME, which is a very unique collection of ROMs on arcade machines you sometimes see. Actually, MAME is Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator and it is not arcade-like, it is the actual arcade game playing on your computer. I don't think you could just throw arcade emulation and gaming away because MAME and the other arcade emulators are not very simple and it can be confusing getting them to work so many people may have questions on that subject.

A n00b is not one who is ranked a newbie, but one who acts new in an unprofessional way.
I have NO idea what you just said. OF the subject, ON the subject, same difference. That makes absolutely no sense. Kameo is saying that PC Gaming/Emulation is a forum not for topics of emulating ROMs on your PC, GAMING them otherwise known as playing.

good thing I'm not a n00b. (yes I knew the definition)
I think it makes sense. Here, let me rephrase it. emulation OF the subject means you are using an emulator to play the system on a PC or other device that is not the original system. For example, playing project 64 on your computer is emulation OF the subject, in this case N64. Emulation ON the subject is putting an emulator on the system itself. For example, putting an emulator on a Xbox is emulation ON the subject. That's what I mean. Questions?
You seem to think the emulation part of the emulation/gaming forums is emulation ON the subject. I don't think this is right because I think the Xbox and the PSP are the systems mainly emulated on. Though, I have seen some gear for GBA that lets you use a GBA cartridge as a USB flash drive and put GBA roms on it to play on the real system and I even saw something that enables you to play movies, MP3's, roms and emulators, and the like on DS (sounds a bit like the DSP [PSP + DS] has finally been created!!) It seems that some systems can be emulated on, but not all. So I see your point there. But I think admin means emulation of.
Based on this, I think that PC gaming/emulation is simply for both playing regular PC games on your computer (not emulation, I think) and for emulating a PC with your PC, as in using DOSbox to emulate MS DOS and using programs to emulate Mac's so you can play Macintosh games on Windows and vice versa. Simple, yes? Questions?
I'd like to say that I am helping greatly!

Like U said, GameBoy emulation, it goes in handheld emulation. Now why would a GameBoy go in handheld emulation, and N64 in PC emulation?? Don't U emulate them both on Ur PC?? In ur view, they should both go in PC emulation.

Simple, yes? Questions? No, no, no! PC Gaming/Emulation is emulation or gaming on your PC. Simple, yes? It can be DOSBox, standard PC games, or even ROMs and emulation. Project64 is PC software, and that's PC emulation when you are using it to play Nintendo 64 games. I understand that PC Gaming/Emulation is for emulating DOSBox as well, but it is not emulating your PC. Emulating is to simulate something that appears unsupported originally. Look it up at dictionary.com. It is not 'emulating' your PC. Computers are entirely execution, not emulation. Emulation is that kind of execution.

No, I'm speaking of emulation and U pointing people to the wrong forums, it's not them who's wrong, it is U who is wrong. Well, I try to show understanding. Now, now, you know the theme: Anger makes you say and do bad things. Let's all control this....
Like U said, GameBoy emulation, it goes in handheld emulation. Now why would a GameBoy go in handheld emulation, and N64 in PC emulation?? Don't U emulate them both on Ur PC?? In ur view, they should both go in PC emulation. No, I said that when you are playing GameBoy games on your GameBoy or portable console/device, it's handheld gaming/emulation. When you are playing N64 games on your N64, it's console emulation. On your PC? PC Gaming/Emulation.
In Ur view, when U speak of N64 emulation, U speak of emulating something on the N64, right?? ...Well, sort of. Something that came from the N64 if you're playing it on your PC. Because PC emulation isn't about emulating PC's, (Thank you! You're progressed where most others arguing about this haven't.) it's about emulating anything on Ur PC. Sounds good to mean. But that's in Ur view, not mine. Oh, in that case, I guess it's wrong then. ...Everytime you say 'ur', you remind me of Dagoth Ur...funny abbreviation. NVM.
The thing U don't understand, and if U really don't then U really R stupid, I don't care what U say about my age, immaturity and other crap, U R stupid if U don't understand this.
GameBoy emulation isn't about emulating anything on Ur GameBoy, it's about emulating the GameBoy, on Ur PC, on Ur X-Box, on Ur what ever. This sounds logical. If PC Gaming/Emulation is not emulating your PC, why would Handheld Gaming/Emulation be emulating your GameBoy? The GameBoy has no power what so ever, so it can't emulate anything. By the definition of emulation, this is true.
Nintendo64 isn't about emulating something on Ur N64, it's about emulating the N64 on Ur PC, on Ur X-Box, on Ur what ever. ...I think I can foreshadow where you're getting at.
U keep saying that N64 emulation goes in PC emulation, but the N64 is a console, it goes in console emulation. My foreshadowing is correct. You gather evidence from the relativity of the forums to say that if Arcade Gaming/Emulation is for playing arcade games, too commonly on your PC, Console Gaming/Emulation is for emulating Nintendo 64 console games simulatingly on your PC. ...Well, goddamn. Look, you may have proved me wrong when I said that forums like Arcade Gaming/Emulation (for example) are for playing Arcade games on the actual consoles, which are huge, rare, and expensive machines to find, but I still defend that emulators are executed on your PC, and emulator (which runs on your PC) configuration settings help for proper emulation can go in PC Gaming/Emulation. It CAN go in Console Gaming/Emulation if it's for N64 configuration as a step-by-step help thread on telling you how to do it (which is easy relatively to most consoles), but it is also valid in PC Gaming/Emulation. For example, Console Gaming/Emulation is for when you are emulating console games on whatever machine/computer, as you have also proved. So PC Gaming/Emulation can be about emulation configuration, as this is PC software. As for playing the actual games...I suppose you must be right. It's unfair to the other forums to put them all in PC Gaming/Emulation. Anyway, I hope we have both taught taught each other something. Not?? Where does GameBoy emulation go then?? PC emulation as well?? U emulate it on Ur PC, does this not go in PC emulation too then?? No, it's a handheld, it goes in handheld emulation. The N64 is a console, it goes in console emulation.
How many times do I need to explain this before U finally do understand it and stop directing people to the wrong forum?? You sound quite stressful. In the end, it doesn't matter. What matters is that we users have CoolROM to post our purposeful threads. That they are in the wrong forum...is merely a complaint. Can you imagine me having to go through all that I typed in the previous paragraph/block to a newbie who thinks a forum about emulator configuration for MAME goes into Arcade Gaming/Emulation (which it certaintly can) and not in PC Gaming/Emulation? This thread FireMage has started is about N64 emulator help. I guess it fits in to Console Gaming/Emulation better than PC Gaming/Emulation, but it can go in PC Gaming/Emulation as long as it's not chatting about the ROMs or Nintendo 64 console software. I will still continue to put things like emulator configuration and help in PC Gaming/Emulation because...let's just say that if you want something moderated right, you gotta moderate it yourself. As a moderator, this may seem selfish and power-greedy, but it is natural for moderators to do this. It is their job to moderate the forum as THEY see fit, like how it is admin's job to post in the Announcements forum and stuff--though we can't post in it anyway, but that's not what I'm getting at. In the end, complaints are complaints. The forum HARDLY matters. Looking in the forums for a specific thread you have in mind is not a strong way to find the thread you want even if it is in the proper forum. This is so compared to using the CoolROM thread search, where you get less results than what you get when looking at an entire thread's post. Perhaps emulator configuration is also pretty good for emulator support too. (Though the support part suggests believed to not support certain ROMs without help, so that part seems doubtful.) Yes there are multiple possibilities. But in the end, the forum shouldn't be REALLY stressed. As long as they don't put ROM Request threads in General Chat or anything. But with a complicated mixup that we've just argued about, it's not worth arguing where the thread goes.
Ask this question on any emulationboard U wish, they will all tell U the same. So stop being ignorant, a wise-azz and directing people to the wrong forum...Hahahaha! You should learn to control your anger before it controls you. I don't expect you or any of you mortal humans these days to learn to learn how to understand others' inevitable problems and disabilities that they can't help, but I would hope what I have posted here sounds MOSTLY agreeable to you. I know that I've agreed with half of the things you've said. As for ignorance, that is what I hate in other people. It should not be in your human nature (Damn you humans!) to see me as the one ignorant, for I have been full of hate yet inspiration for learning. Not that you care. And BTW, what I said to you before...I didn't really mean ANY of that! But a quiz is not quizzical...it was wrong of me to test you.

But with a complicated mixup that we've just argued about, it's not worth arguing where the thread goes. yep, some topics can go in multiple forums. it is just like algebra. you can go to different paths that all end up at the correct answer, but there is no reason (besides being easier) to choose one over the other. Just let the topics fall where they may as long as they are acceptable in the forum where they are. If we try to put threads in the perfect or closest to perfect spot everytime, we are not doing the most important work in the world as moderators. we can put such stuff off and even ignore it. if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
But a quiz is not quizzical.... but a test is testic*is shot*
I actually am agreeing with what Kameo is saying, so if you agree at all with him, then you agree with me, a fate worse than death. I am part of this, yo! I'll get down with the clown! (not you) Also, you stole my line!
I am not reducing tension. AS I HAVE ALREADY SAID, I put 'LOL' there to show that I was not being serious or stressed or anything like that to Kameo. And therefore, you have reduced tension and anger that Kameo might have had if you put that down without the LOL. There might be a tense bashing argument if you did not put that in there to show you weren't all angry. Just studying your social behavior. Also, how come you never put in LOL when talking to me? Okay, I won't mention your social tactics anymore. I know a lot of people who laugh to show they ain't serious and reduce tension so people won't take things too seriously. It is actually part of human nature to laugh in such situations. Even monkeys and apes do a form of it.

He said it quite extensively, too! Sometimes, CM, when teaching others how to do things, you have to be detailed and specific. Don't be this extensive, though, or you'll confuse the hell out of them:
How to open the ****ing door so I can get in:
Alert your arms with the capability of movement.
Look at the golden shiny thing on the door we call a door knob.
Slowly push your arm towards it until you touch it.
Touch the doorknob. And so on and so forth.
You are stereotyping admin. He has no better opinion for the purpose of the forums than Kameo or me. Just because he can do whatever he wants with this site is no reason to mistake him as God, yet he is socially virtuous. He has a home life, and affairs to go with it.
Okay, good to see we can be courteous here!
I thought if admin created the forums, he would have the answer as to what to put in them.

A quiz is not quizzical, and that is why I am sorry for testing him with that post from before.
Way to quote the whole damn post, chaos master!
Guys, I searched for "dumb ***" in Google, and this is what I came up with:

Memories. Anyway, that's enough posting in this thread.
And CM, how's that Virtual Chess tutorial going? I can beat anyone in my high school so far.
