A Time Where Hopefully People Awake From An Existence Thats Meaningless, To An Existence With Much More Life.

At Worst, it'll Be Another Day

2012 is Year of the Dragon, one of four polar extremes that are possible.

In this year is either awakening/leadership/revolution or something actually very sad.
Events may be consequential to Year of the Tiger 2010, which is of opposite tribune albeit also within the first group.

And 2007 was Year of the Pig. Um at least for me, this was really a transition. I can see a lot of other things 'suffered from transition' as well though. In most parts of this year, things seemed to be at their best.
I guess notably Pig is the twelfth and last of the Eastern stars.

It was also the year I received my very first BAN !! :hand:
well not very actually

2012 is when the ninth planet is suppose to get close to the sun and when it does it would light up. Making us have 2 suns and we go crazy. global warming happens because it gets closer and begins to heat up. There are shelters set up for a selected few. So 2012=2 suns. The Fact Is, People Are Afraid Of What They Don't Know, And Any Answer is better Then None.

Nibiru is fake, don't believe the hoax: http://astrobiology.nasa.gov/ask-an-astrobiologist/intro/nibiru-and-doomsday-2012-questions-and-answers

Truth about Nibiru: Nibiru (mythology): a celestial object in the Babylonian poem Enuma Elish, associated with the god Marduk, generally accepted to be the planet Jupiter.

There are a number of planets or moons whose existence is not supported by scientific evidence, but which are occasionally believed to exist by astrologers, pseudoscientists, conspiracy theorists, or certain religious groups.

In recent years the work of Zecharia Sitchin has garnered much attention among ufologists, ancient astronaut theorists and conspiracy theorists. He claims to have uncovered, through his retranslations of Sumerian texts, evidence that the human race was visited by a group of extraterrestrials from a distant planet in our own Solar System. Part of his theory lies in an astronomical interpretation of the Babylonian creation myth, the Enuma Elish, in which he replaces the names of gods with hypothetical planets. However, since the principal evidence for Sitchin's claims lies in his own personally derived etymologies and not on any scholarly agreed interpretations (including scholars among the Sumerians themselves), his theories remain at most pseudoscience to the vast majority, if not the totality, of academics.

If anything, worry about that Solar storm, the weakened magnetic field, the magnetic pole switch and the hole in the magnetic field. You can do the math yourself.

Possibly some modifications on their site may be coming from one of those links,
http://astrobiology.nasa.gov/ask-an-astrobiologist/intro/nibiru-and-doomsday-2012-questions-and-answers
where in this article is gone beyond to criticize the Nibiru factor, into the idea that absolutely nothing of apprehended threat will happen in 2012

a couple examples
14. I have heard that the Earth’s magnetic field will flip in 2012 just when the strongest level of solar storms in history is predicted to take place. Will this kill us or destroy our civilization?

Near solar maximum (which happens every 11 years approximately), there are many more solar flares and coronal mass ejections than near solar minimum. Flares and mass ejections are no danger for humans or other life on Earth. They could endanger astronauts in deep space or on the Moon, and this is something that NASA must learn to deal with, but it is not a problem for you or me. Large outbursts can interrupt radio transmission, cause bright displays of the aurora (Northern and Southern Lights), and damage the electronics of some satellites in space. Today many satellites are designed to deal with this possibility, for example by switching off some of their more delicate circuits and going into a “safe” mode for a few hours. In extreme cases solar activity can also disrupt electrical transmissions on the ground, possibly leading to electrical blackouts, but this is rare.

The last solar maximum occurred in 2001, so the next one was predicted for around 2012, 11 years later. However, the most recent solar minimum was unusual, with a period of a couple of years with almost no sunspots or other indications of solar activity, so scientists now guess that the next maximum will be delayed, perhaps to 2013. However, the details of the solar cycle remain basically unpredictable.

You are correct that the Earth’s magnetic field protects us by creating a large region in space, called the Earth’s magnetosphere, within which most of the material ejected from the Sun is captured or deflected, but there is no reason to expect a reversal of magnetic polarity any time soon. These magnetic reversals happen only once in 400,000 years on average.

15. I am confused about a report on the Fox News website that in 2012 a “Powerful Solar Storm Could Shut Down U.S. for Months”. They referred to a report from the National Academy of Sciences that was commissioned and paid for by NASA. If nothing is going to happen as a result of the event in 2012, why would NASA allow such nonsense to be reported?

NASA is pleased with the National Research Council report on heliophysics. As you note, this report includes a worst-case analysis of what could happen today if there were a repetition of the biggest solar storm ever recorded (in 1859). The problem is the way such information can be used out of context. There is no reason to expect such a large solar storm in the near future, certainly not in 2012 specifically. Your reference to “the event in 2012” illustrates this problem. There is no prediction of an “event in 2012”. We don’t even know if the next solar maximum will take place in that year. The whole 2012 disaster scenario is a hoax, fueled by ads for the Hollywood science-fiction disaster film “2012”. I can only hope that most people are able to distinguish Hollywood film plots from reality.

Pluto has been classified as a dwarf planet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwarf_planet

The planet you guys call Nibiru is also a dwarfplanet, it's called Eris: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eris_%28dwarf_planet%29

Eris, formal designation 136199 Eris, is the largest known dwarf planet in the Solar System and the ninth-largest body known to orbit the Sun directly. It is approximately 2,500 kilometres in diameter and 27% more massive than Pluto.

Planet "X"
Xena:

Due to uncertainty over whether the object would be classified as a planet or a minor planet, as different nomenclature procedures apply to these different classes of object, the decision on what to name the object had to wait until after the August 24, 2006 IAU ruling. As a result, for a time the object became known to the wider public as Xena.

"Xena" was an informal name used internally by the discovery team. It was inspired by the eponymous heroine of the television series Xena: Warrior Princess. The discovery team had reportedly saved the nickname "Xena" for the first body they discovered that was larger than Pluto. According to Brown, We chose it since it started with an X (planet "X"), it sounds mythological (OK, so it’s TV mythology, but Pluto is named after a cartoon, right?),[b] and (this part is actually true) we've been working to get more female deities out there (i.e. Sedna). Also at the time the TV show was still on TV, which shows you how long we've been searching!

So there's your planet X, Nibiru, the 9th planet.

"Aptly named after the Greek goddess of conflict, the icy dwarf planet, Eris, has rattled the general model of our solar system. The object was discovered by astronomer Mike Brown of Caltech in the outer reaches of the Kuiper belt in 2005.

Its detection provoked debate about Pluto’s classification as a planet. Eris is slightly larger than Pluto. "

The dwarf planet, formerly known as 2003 UB313, is now called Eris, after the Greek goddess of discord and strife."

There were many theories of things like 2012 .. pretty much all of them

I believe I read this in National Geographic but it was a while ago, so if I'm wrong someone please correct me. 2012 is supposedly the end of world according to the Mayan calender (might've been the Aztecs; that part doesn't really matter).

Funny thing is, this information was made public before anthropologists fully understood the Mayan calender, and have since stated that the date is incorrect. Moreover, the Mayans believed the world periodically was destroyed and subsequently remade. So the concept of "apocalypse" to them wasn't a big deal, and I highly doubt they'd be so concerned about 2012.

The bigger issue here is doomsday enthusiasts want the world to end, and go digging for the soonest possible date and then support it using questionable (and often laughable) sources. When the world didn't end on Y2K, these people had to check their datebooks for another apocalypse.

2012 just happened to be next in line after the millennium. When the world persists through 2012, I'm guessing they'll find an obscure Nostradamus reference and cite that as the next impending "true" apocalypse. And so the cycle will continue until the plot of Guilty Gear comes to pass.

Dibs on the Testament outfit.

If you really want to know what's going to happen in 2012, I can almost guarantee Nintendo will release a new handheld system, Microsoft will admit the current iteration of Windows was garbage but promise the next one will revolutionize how we steal ISOs, and Diablo 3 will still be in the earliest stages of production.

But what if the 2012 rumor is *true*? Then we're all SCREWED.

Haha I actually don't believe in the rumor at all =\ perhaps something will happen to the atmosphere of our planet (referance Discovery Channel.. or was it History?) but seriously, our world is going to end? Neeehhh.

there have been thousands of times people believed the world would end and each time...it never did. we would know, right? i mean it started with every 30 years but now it's every 6 years: 3 times this century. first it was Y2K which never happened. then people thought that June 6th, 2006 was going to be the end because of the devil, now people believe that 2012 is going to be the end. but 7 is the lucky number, and one man found out 7 reasons the earth could end, or at least a major effect on the entire planet, could happen in 2012; http://buburuza.net/2008/08/seven-reasons-the-world-will-end-in-2012-proven-scientifically/. of course i don't believe it myself, but anything is possible. say right before the event happens thousands off aliens could bring us off earth and depending on how it happens could possibly save us all from a horrible and painful death. plus we can rules out that 1st one because it was just the Mayan calender; just because most of our calenders end in December doesn't mean December 31st of every month is going to be the end of the world. why would it be any different with the Mayan calender?

It's all a bunch of crap. If anything, we'll all have ourselves a good hearty laugh when Dec 22 rolls around and we're still here.

I was a kid when that stuff came up. I believed it because, well, I was a kid. It was pretty nerve wracking.
