I think it was produced by I'max in 1990's.

Okay I googled it and this is what I found under Tetris Fighter..

From the screens it looks like it was an import title. If this was released in the US, maybe it was released as another titled?

well, it is not puzzle fighter tho :p
and I have completely no idea what is the us version of this game... I played the japanese version looonggg time ago....
and this game was just addictive. besides ordinary tetris, it involves battle and magic. Each character have different ability.
that is all I can say about this game. I searched everywhere, but I cannot find one :(

after long search !! it is called "Dossun! Ganseki Battle"
