ROM Gaming on PS2

i am wondering if i would be able to play any kind of ROM on my PS2 i have Action Replay in which it alows you to play ROMs on PS2 but i am wondering if anyone has tried other ROMs out on it

I thought you had to have a modchip for that, but maybe there is a way to play them with action replay.
