Who here likes Soccer? IDK if any of you knew this... but ITALY WON THE WORLD CUP! For the forth time, might I add. The only country who won the World Cup more times then Italy is Brazil, and they won it 5 times. I'm sorry that this is late, but 36 hours isn't that late.

They were being too arogant if you ask me. This is the first time that Italy won a World Cup with penalty kicks out of 4 times that they had to.

Yes I mean how. They were tied so they had to go to overtime. After that, they were still tied, so they had to do penalty kicks. France missed one, so better luck next time. :p

Not IMO, but they played a good game. What's his face( The captian of the Frence team. ) headbutted one of the Italian players on the field purposely. It was his last game too, before he retired. He was a good player, so that was a good thing for Italy.

I don't like how they have only one overtime then go to shootout. The shootout is basically won by luck, I think, because the goalie has to just pick a side to jump to it and it is still hard to stop the ball even if you pick the right side.

I also never really liked to watch soccer until the world cup started but now I wish they would show more soccer on tsn, and the other sports channels it can actually be pretty good to watch.

Well I saw the match. That headbutt.. it ruined the overall feel of the match. It didn't matter if you were an Italian supporter or French supporter, you couldn't be one hundred percent happy. It was a disgusting move and Zidane shouldn't have allowed Materazzi (pretty sure it was him) to get to him with his taunts.

As for the rest of the match, France's goal was SO UNFAIR! They got a penalty kick in the first 5/6 minutes! AND.. they got it for a "foul" which on replay showed that it either didn't even connect, or the foot touched the guy's leg slightly, but not enough to topple him like that. Not even I would get hurt from that, at that speed.. how soft can a guy get? :P Zidane was the one that scored that goal for France.

15 minutes later, Italy (Materazzi) did a nice header into the goal from a corner kick :) They then tried the same technique 2-3 times more to see if it would result in another goal XD It didn't. Both sides played a good match, but in the first half of extra time, Zidane did that. France lost an amazing Penalty taker, while Italy still had their great goal keeper, Buffon.

I was on the edge of my seat at penalty time :D my whole family was watching it and I was the only one that predicted Italy would win (before the match started).

Well they had two 15 minute halves of extra time, after the first 90 minutes of the game ended in a draw. The players can't play for too long or they will be exhausted.

Penalties involve some luck, but not purely by it. The goalie has to study the shooter's body signals and other things before making a decision. If they can't figure it out you see them moving from left to right indecisively, until the ball is kicked. Then they try to stop it.

Goal keepers have to take into account the shooter's position and angle of entry as he runs, where he was looking before the kick and which foot he's using, among other factors. Then there are also the things the striker can do to fool the goalie. Like looking the wrong way, or what Zidane did to get the French goal. He ran to the ball and at the last minute slowed down. Buffon (the Italian goalie) had already dived by the time Zidane kicked and he was able to place the ball into the goal.

I said a lot of nasty things to madden him up for trying to madden us all up. Time flew by. I'm going to skip those. World Cup hacked me and reentered SCD as Iconoclast and kept calling himself gay. Fierce Deity was about to hack him and give him a virus or something, **** his BIOS up, but he left. He reentered. The second time FD tried to hack him, he didn't keep quiet, so he left again. After a long time we were able to continue the game. But when he reentered one last time, FD had his chance to hack him. He told me he didn't want to because he was concerned that he might be using someone else's computer, an innocent's. I tried to convince him that, logically, that may not be so. He seemed to agree, but he talked to World Cup.

Well a long time ago, if you were tied after the Penalty kicks, then you had to flip a coin. Seriously, it's like WTH? I wouldn't want to lose or win a world cup by filpping a coin. I still think, though, that if you reached that far, and you were at the last game and you went into penalty shots, then you're both good teams.

I don't know how long ago that was, but in the 1930s, World Cups didn't go to Penalty kicks. If the teams drew the match, they would have had to replay the whole match again! How crap is that? XD

Well to say the truth, I sort of feel bad for Zidane. I mean it was his last game and he couldn't even stay recieve his medal with his teammates. It was both the players fault, IMO. Zidane shouldn't have headbutted anybody, and Materazzi( If you say so, but I think it might have been another player. ) shouldn't have said anything to him.

italy, portugal and spain are all diving c unts, they play some OK football but the majority of the time they just dive and try to get other players sent off. france should of won that match if luck was so heavly agaisnt them, Henry=injured, Zidane=provoced by a nipple cripple and bein called the son of a terorist, was obv sent off for a spectacular head to the chest

Like in a lot of sports, competition is heavy. Taunts and name-calling is just part of the play to psyche out the other person. Muhammad Ali taunted his opponents a lot, in matches. The real surprise is that it actually worked.
