I am thinking about going out tomorrow and buying Guild Wars - the "no monthly fees" thing appealed to me. I was wondering (if anyone has played it, or is playing it nowadays) is this game any good? And what is Guild Wars Factions?
Any insight is greatly appreciated :)
I've had it since it came out, fun game. Not as good as World Of Warcraft, certainly, but probably one of the top 5 MMORPGS out there right now. Of course, the no-monthly-fees thing just makes the whole thing better. It's especially fun if you can join a guild once you get past the first chapter. If you can afford it, get it. It's certainly the best bargain for a MMORPG game so far, and a fun game to boot.
EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention the insane fun you can get from making a PVP-only character early on, until one of your main characters can PVP without being mercilessly beaten. I personally prefer a mesmer/warrior or warrior(or elementalist)/necromancer for PVP, if you get the game.

Yea PvP is pretty fun in guild wars, I went with a ranger/warrior and a warrior/monk, they seem to be able to handle most of whats thrown at you, especially if you get a pet with the monks buffs and healing magic it can take down other players by itself.

Guild Wars is defenitly worth it for the $50 (now $40) price tag. Oh yeah, the no monthly fee thing just rocks :). I've been playing this for a year now and I bought Factions a while back and I still play both compaines. Excellent mmo.

This might sound like a stupid question but, what is PvP? I am curious....:)

PvP is player versus player were you fight another character in the game

Thanks for your opinions guys :) Well I have decided to buy it but ugh.. I wasn't able to go to the shop today. I will definitely go tomorrow though. I'll play Guild Wars through before getting Factions though. I have NO idea why I never got this game before. I guess I just thought there might not be anyone I know that would play it. I'll try to get my cousin to get it too, but it's good to know there are some cool guys playing it too :)

Hello coolrom Kru!, I Just joined this forum and the community looks great! I just wanted Rivaan to know that my brother bought that game while on a out of town job and doesn't play it anymore. I could sell a used copy of it if you like, I know I just joined and I haven't proven trust yet, but I can put it on ebay or something and just end the bid as soon as you bid or if you have a paypal account you can just put the funds there and then I can send it to you. Name a price, I just figured the game should get it's gameplay instead of just sitting over at my house.

Ok guys, I've actually had time to play this game today and it's sooo cool! :D
I am playing the RolePlaying Prophecy campaign if anyone's interested. My name is Rivaan Vaalen. It lets me choose a district (most are European) but I go for the International one.

It lets me choose a district (most are European) but I go for the International one.As far as I'm concerned, the game is truly excellent except for one thing: the lag that comes with most Internation Districts, especially in places like Lion's Arch. When I try to play with a couple friends that live in a different countries, at least one of us lags out every single time. It's hella annoying, so I mainly stick to American servers.
