I've been playing chrono cross and it won't let me save. How the heck do u save?

Chrono Cross is a PSX RPG, it's the sequel of Chrono Trigger for the SNES which got a PSX remake...

I found it easy to save but once I was using the saved file I found it hard to swap files or move it to a new larger directory and still chrono trigger seems to be stuck in its orgiginal dir -_-
