I don't think the PS1 is backwords compatible, since the PS2 is a higher gen. console.

Nope you can't for one good reason, PS2 discs are in a DVD format plus they just have much higher GB stored into it. Same goes with memory cards.

Yes, you can. Just go home and try it right now. You should be able to play SEGA CD games on there, as well, and probably Jaguar games. I don't know about NEO GEO CD, but laserdisc games should work. XBox games definitely don't work, but I haven't tried 360 games yet.

sega cd and jaguar on ps1... funny, unless you mean some kind of emulation which I don't even know if that stuff works on ps1.
