Unable to download files with DAP.

I am still having trouble downloading files on this website through Download Accelerator Plus.

It was working a couple of days ago until something went down and ROMs were no longer downloadable. Ever since then I haven't been able to download a particular Sega CD ROM from here using DAP.

I've settled for Shining Force CD (due to it being somewhat 60MB less than Road Avenger) Due to a poor connection it takes 3 hours+ to download with Internet Explorer, the only problem is that I get cut off every 2 hour intervals and so without a resume function I won't be able to download a sausage.

Could something be done to make the source maybe readable (instead of the JavaScript function) because so far when I download the ROM it's through IE and when I add the dl.coolrom.com URL it doesn't work and instead makes me download the page for downloading the ROM.

Well, to be honest with you, DAP will not work for most sites out there nowadays. It isnt really as user-friendly to way to download anymore like it used to be.

If you are worried about losing your connection in a download, get something else. You could start using FireFox, instead of Internet explorer; it has the option to pause/resume downloads right in the download window.

I mostly use NetPumper, but IDK if it's good or not since I never used anything else. It works for me, and it can resume downloads.

I also use FireFox but the download folder doesn't really work for me. Not only does it tell me files are completed when I can see about a second earlier they were on 48% but after I get cut off, FF treats it as if I've actually closed the folder and so the resume function doesn't work anymore but instead I get "retry".

Infact I had resorted to using another ROMs site but after downloading a 3 part ROM for 2 days (not whole days) WinRAR told me these files were corrupt.

DAP did work for this site once, but like I was saying when the site went down (Monday or Tuesday) this fucntion also went with it. So Admin did change it to enable this feature but maybe forgot to put it back?

After many hours of fiddling and downloading other download managers I can safely say that it isn't them. I tried with Internet Download Manager 5 and it has a feature where you press the CTRL key and it also integrates with Mozilla to download, nearly everywhere else bar here does it. Fresh Download v7 also had the same problem. Using DAP it has a download basket where you can drag and drop the link, the problem being that the download link from this website doesn't drag so it can't be dropped. The JavaScript on the link opens dl.coolrom.com/dl.php?313 as a download source but this doesn't download the file, instead this link when downloaded simply downloads the page.

Could any Admin contact me and provide a simple solution as I seem to be going round in circles.

Hey Slutbunwalla, and welcome to our forums :). To be honest with you, I do not know if our server and scripts actually allow the use of download accelerator programs to download. During these past few weeks, our server has been unstable because of the increase in traffic/connections, so I made a few optimizations, but none, which I think, would change the way you download our files. Right now, our server connections are constantly at the max, and I think the use of download accelerator programs will just put it over the top. Hmm, I will have to find another way to solve this problem for you - please stay tuned.

Hmm I never really knew that a download program would effect the host, I always just thought it would enable me to download a file that I normally wouldn't.

I have actually managed to begin downloading the file once with DAP but when the server went so did my download.

I can't really manage to do anything else because this site is the only place at the moment that I can find this ROM file on. Sure another site has it but even when I manage to download it all with DAP it says the files are corrupt anyway.

I'll find a way somehow.

Heh.. My PC is good I suppose. Still got around 230GB free space.

My internet connection sucks as it's all I can get at the moment. No broadband company has yet to come to my village so I'm stuck with 56k.


As for that website posted, it was sound for about 2 minutes and then it was error after error. Firstly disconnecting me from their site, then saying there was nothing to download.. it was a nightmare.

I'll admit it does really suck. Can't do diddly squat with this kind of connection. I mean I must have got booted out of dozens of Team Fortress Classics servers for having a really low ping rate and lagging everyone down.

I'll give up with DAP on those 3 files. Currently it keeps terminating the application. I'll try a regular IE download later on.

Could you tell me if these files are secure? I've never trusted an unknown .exe file.
