I've been shopping around on various sites for a copy of XP and I need to know: if I buy the $90 copy of Windows XP Home from oh say newegg is it going to be the full or just an upgrade?

If you're getting a computer for 90 bucks, then IDK what to tell you. A pretty good computer would cost around 800 bucks.

I got my computer for 500 bucks (about) plus a 90$ graphics card, and it has never really failed to do the job when I need it. :) My OS came installed directly on my PC when I bought it, so I really don't know what to tell you. I'm sure Microsoft.com has the various packages listed on their site and what each one should include. What features do you want, exactly? For 90$, it sounds like you'd only get the basics. WOS is pretty expensive nowdays.

By the sounds of it, that $90 probably will get you the OEM version (no box, just CD) of Windows XP Home Edition. You should be able to upgrade your existing operating system and do a full re-install with that CD.

Yeah the $90 version is the OEM version of Windows XP, but there's a catch here. I'm building this pc, which by the way is about $1300 and is gonna rock, and I have a brand new shiny hdd with nothing on it. So i'm not looking to upgrade my operating system; I'm looking to add one. So obviously an upgrade version is not gonna cut it...
