I have been having something strange happening to me today, and this has never happened before. I am hoping someoone can tell me what it is.

Sometimes when I try to press the "submit" button when replying to a thread, instead of the post being submitted, i get this window pops up:

http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/8020/modemsecurenw3.png (http://imageshack.us)

and if i close it, My browser goes to a blank page that just says "error 401".

what is this thing?

hmm never seen that messege before, but does this only happen to you when you type a long @ss post? because if it does. Coolrom logs me off if I don't do anything for a while or if I take too long typing a post. I address this matter before, but CM said he's never had it happen to him. so I just oh well and just made sure to do something everonce and a while. and when I type long @ss post a try to go faster and then check it for mistakes later

what is this thing?Woah...I have no idea wth that could be. I would imagine someone like you would know of any software, including a firewall program, that might give you crap like that due to some setting, so I can't really give any guesses. Might be some kind of IP conflict for all I know; I have no idea. That sounds like something that might happen to admin but not you.

Yeah, that was my first thought. But Internet connection/IP is fine ( I contacted my provider, the said it was a web site issue, not theirs) and its no firewall conflict, because at the time I had no firewall running. (which is very rare, and I do run a business, so anyone taking that peice of information for the wrong purpose will be federally prosecuted, I have done this once already so dont think about it.) and it was a very short message so I dont think I took to long. I just was scared to fill it out with any username and password, fearing it may be some sort of phishing po-up.

Any other/new ideas?

Also, my ISP told me they firewall my connection from their end of the line, to stop hackers and what not, but they have no restriiction regarding this site or any of its affiiates like filesend and such (i did not mention filesend, they said it first so I figured they aren't B-S-ing me)

Hmm, that is very strange indeed. I never experienced this problem myself, or heard anyone who has, until now. Which browser do you use, and did you recently install any programs that may be causing this? Has anyone else here experienced the same problem?

I was Using FireFox v1.5.0.5 when it occured. I havent used I.E. for about 7 months. The only programs I have Installed in the last 60 Days MSN Live Messenger, and Microsoft Office 2003: OneNote Add-on.

Now that you mention it, FireFox did self-install a version update the other day, and it has been a little more buggy than usual. Maybe this is the cause?

I've never seen it before :). Probably some tool he got installed, or he has some phishing software on his PC, but it better not be that last one ;)....

OH YES! I got it too! But for some reason it said that the installation was firewalled or something. I took down my firewall, but nothing happened, so I think that it didn't install.
