viruses, worms, trojan horses, adware, or spyware? because I downloaded a few things from here, and now I have adware and spyware. Has coolrom ever been known to give you stuff like this?

Hell, no. Not to me, or anyone on this site that they reported.

The only thing I can think of is my emulator that I downloaded from another site before I came here.

Yeah, it's not this site. I never got anything bad from it either.

And the thing is I can't get rid of it unless I delete the emulator, which I don't want to do, because, if I'm correct, the emulator is what has the memory of the games, so if I delete it, I'll delete the memory of my games, right?

Hello Bones, and welcome to the CoolRom Forums :)
Thats a good question, I'm sure many people ask themselves such a question.
I have tried a few thousand titles from the site's Rom section, and never recieved any Viruses, or anything to that nature in which you are asking of.
CoolROM and its affiliates, are always glad to welcome someone new to the site, and I think I can speak for us all, when I say that the site doesnt want Viruses, Spyware, ect., on it's machines any more than you do. So odds are CoolROM is not the culprit here.
But you should always remember, there is no safe place on the internet these days, you are subject to threats everywhere you go. It happens to everyone at some point, whether they know it or not. Just make sure to keep your PC in good health, and follow some simple steps:
-Make sure you are not using an outdated operating system. Currently You should have at least WindowsXP, or MacOSX, or an updated version of Linux, Depending on what you use.
-Remember, always keep your important data backed up, in case of disaster.
-Make sure you are using a firewall, and at least a Pop-up Blocker. Many threats enter you PC through Pop-Up windows and Advertisments.
-Keep some Anti-Virus, and Anti-Adware/Spyware Software installed. Keep it updated and run them at least one a week.
-Never give personal information of any kind to unknown sources.
-Keep your operating system and browser updated always, check for updates often
-Be careful on P2P networks like Limewire, imesh, ect. -These are ususally FULL of viruses.(I have gotten about 20 myself this way)
As loing as you do this, you should be okay. Just be careful when using unfamiliar sites, and services on the web.
By the way, PC Tools Software, makes some Excellent Award-Winning software to keep your PC safe. I recommend it over Norton or McAffee software any day, for Windows XP users. You can find them HERE (http://www.pctools.com/)
