ok so im completely new to Mame and things like that.
basically im trying to run the game "West story" since i played that some when i was a child.
i use the Mame107 i think.. the newest i could find here on coolrom.
when i try to start the game i get the following message
bb_04.bin NOT FOUND
bb_03.bin NOT FOUND
bb_08.bin NOT FOUND
ERROR: required files are missing, the game can not be run
does anyone know how i can fix this? i downloaded the west story rom from coolrom.
id really like to play it so if anyone could help me i would be grateful.
also if i need to download something extra please tell me where and what i need to download. i find using mame kind of confusing :-P

You need to Find the Parent Rom for this, Try www.Romnation.net if this site doesn't have it already.
Or you might need some Bios Files, but you cant ask for those.

That shows all the Bios files you could need to run games. So I would just get all of those. You should be able to get those files through www.google.com.

There Illegal, more so than the roms themselves.

It really isnt all that hard to find them.It was hard like HELL for me to find them. I tried Google searching for a PSX BIOS, (I don't emulate the PSX, I just wanted to configure one working emulator for every video gaming console available and burn them to a CD. So I needed to find a BIOS file.) and everywhere I searched via Google, I saw threads like where can I get a PSX BIOS? Every thread I came across was like dude, just get them from your Playstation, which I don't have! But my persistence was rewarded, and I finally found a thread that for some reason had a link to some Japanese PSX BIOS...
But off-topic. Point is, for me, the BIOS files were hard to find. I don't know about MAME, but every other console (I know MAME isn't a console.) I looked for them for!
