The Wi-Fi, Wii and My PC Discussion

Welcome to my open discussion thread, on the topic:
"MY PC, The Nintendo Wii, it's Wi-Fi, and Wireless Discussion"

THE TOPIC

As we all know, the Nintendo Wii uses a "Wi-Fi" Wireless Internet connection.
And Most people, do not have a Wireless Connection in their home yet (Like Me)

Nintendo did announce that their will be a USB adapter of some sort,
but exactly which types of internet connections it will work for, and whether or not you will be lucky enough to get one before they sell out, is still unknown.

So many of us that plan on getting a Wii on release day or ASAP, (Like Me)
are planning ahead, and trying to learn about Wireless Wi-Fi Connections
and how to get one hooked up and ready for the arrival of the Wii!

But so many of us, have no idea about things like:

-What different options do I have in installing a wireless connection?
-What Must I need to get it going?
-Anything Important I should Know?
or....
-I know nothing, just help!?

So that what this thread is for, so we can share information about getting ready for the Wii so the day we bring it home, we can go Wi-Fi and hook it up!

So Lets get to figuring this out people! Who's got some Wi-Fi Know-How?!

That's Right.... I, DarthBrady, live in smalltown Kentucky, and have never had to use wireless internet.

Right now, I am using Standard DSL with a Router on an Ethernet connction.
So I want to know, what are my different options in adding a Wireless internet connection in my home, so my Nintendo Wii will be able to go online right out of the box?

I'm sure many people are thinking the same thing, together we can figure this out.;)

Yeah I seen it.

It just says as I said in the Topic though, But like I said, If that USB to ethernet adapter is not available to me when I buy the Wii, I want to have Wireless ready to go in my house, just in case :)

Now I just gotta figure out how.....:shocked:

semi on topic: there making smething for the DS so you can surf the internet if I read right. it going to be a game cartiege you put in the DS and it let you go online if i got it right...hmm maybe i should go find where I read this...

Dont take my word for it but, if I remember correctly there is ways you can turn your connection you have right now into a wireless one with some kind of modem or router. That might be a way to get it to work. I think my exbrother in law uses a router or something to turn his connection to a wireless one to connect to his xbox 360...I know he has Verison Wireless DSL(Its not wireless itself).
