Just what IS a torrent? I've heard about it before, I only know it's a way to download stuff that may be hard to find otherwise, but I need to know what it is, what program you need to download torrents and stuff like that.

So just what is the right way to download a torret?

You need a Bittorrent Client. I use Bit Tornado. But there are better ones out there. Go to a Torrent Indexing Site after installing the Client. Download the Torrent of the file you want. Open it up. Choose your Download/Upload Speed.
They wont always work. After Downloading your suppose to Seed the file so it makes others aquire it easier. But im an A**hole and I dont do that.

I use Utorrent to download torrent files. Though you might also need to use bit torrent. I think I needed bit torrent for something so I could get it to download on utorrent or something I dont remember.

It almost ALWAYS depends on the torrent's health, or the seeder-to-leecher ratio. Unless you have a narrowband connection or a NAT problem, those are going to be the deciding factors in your speed. The higher the number of seeders compared to the number of leechers, the faster the torrent. That's baisically how it goes.

I ahve BitComet and Azureus. Is utorrent bette rthan those? It is a weird looking u right? I don't know what the hell my NAT problem is, but no matter what I try, it stays ****ed up. It can go sorta slow too. Maybe I'll try out MuTorrent....

In my eyes, when it comes to the top torrenting utilities, it's all a matter of preference. I use Azureus because it's supreme, and when that fails (only has once, and it was a router error), Utorrent or Bitlord, because they're almost as good.

If Azureus isn't working for you, though, there's a slim chance the others might, but if you have a NAT problem, I wouldn't bet on it.

Second the vote for Azureus :p It rules as the overlord of all bottorrent clients :D

No it doesn't, both Bitlord and Bitcomet create ghost peers to let U download faster. Instead of being connected as one peer, it connects U as three or more separate peers giving U higher DL speeds, something UTorrent and Azureus don't do.

Also, with NAT router problems, U can't connect with Azureus and UTorrent unless U forward the port of Ur router correctly, both Bitlord and Bitcomet don't need crap like that, they will work for U ;) ....

Well, I loved BitComet until it stopped working. BitLord won't download this Fable torrent I am trying to get. It was working okay with Azureus, but a bit slow, but BitLord, won't work at all. I am just going to uninstall all of them, and reinstall BitComet, and hope for the best....

Well, I loved BitComet until it stopped working. BitLord won't download this Fable torrent I am trying to get. It was working okay with Azureus, but a bit slow, but BitLord, won't work at all. I am just going to uninstall all of them, and reinstall BitComet, and hope for the best....

I meant, it stopped working as in, it would close a lot whenever I open it. It stays open for about 5 minutes and encounters an error. But, if they are getting banned, then I will keep Azureus as an alternative.

Oh, most Torrents get posted on other trackers as well, so far I have yet to encounter a Torrent I can't download, even from trackers who banned them :).

Trackers can't prevent U downloading their Torrents with those clients, but if they R banned there and they find out U R using it they'll ban U too ;).

Easy way around it, download the Torrent file, store it on Ur HD and open it in Ur client from there, can't be traced :D ....

And yes, if U R connected as one peer, and it gives U 10 KBs, then the two ghost peers kick in another 20, like 10 KBs per peer, which gives U 30 KBs instead of 10, works great :D ....

also, I nver tried to use azeurus, beacuse the only time I googled it up to try, I got a virus from some fake malware best of a site, that didnt even have it. so if someone recommend a good place to get that one, I would try that too, if its as good as some of you say.

I am pretty sure it is probably like one of those download managers/accelerators.. like DAP (Download Acclerator Plus). The type used on normal downloads and not torrents.

I seem to have problesm with all of them. BitTorrent sucked. Extremely slow. BitComet was great, but no wit doesn't work properly, and you guys are saying that it gets banned. BitLord wouldn't work at all. I had a torrent and it said connecting for liek an hour. Azureus is finish, but I have those NAT issues and I don't want to make a static IP address. I have yet to try UTorrent or MuTorrent or whatever that shape is.

Yes, just download and install Bitlord. Then copy the files U R downloading to the download folder in the Bitlord folder, which can be found in Ur program files folder. After that, copy the Torrent file to the Torrents folder in Ur Bitlord folder.

Once done that, just open the Torrent file in Ur Bitlord, it will start scanning for how much U have downloaded of that file already, and it should continue downloading from there :) ....

Use Bitlord, worked great for me so far, never had a problem downloading a file when it was seeded, not even from trackers who put a ban on it. There's easy ways to bypass that, they'll never find out :) ....

Let me show U Bitlords great ghostpeers powers :p.

As U can see on my screenshot, there's only three maximum peers, yet I'm connected to five of them (seeders don't count on this ;) ). So it's giving me the download speeds of being connected to five peers, not three :D .

What it does is stealing download KBs from the other 3 peers and it's sending them to me, sucks for them, but it's great for me :D :D :D ....

I think I am gonna wait till my downloads are finished before I switch to Bitlord. I wasn't able to get it to resume :( I just told it to download to where the files already were (my torrent folder) but it seemed to start from 0%.

Oh well.. I can wait a little. :)

That's an easy one- ;)

Ah k. How do I get it onto my HD now? I have the install program on my computer, but I also have it installed in my C Drive. Is there a way I can move it or will I need to Reinstall it?

Now you are just being confusing :p

what do you mean? your C: drive is your hard drive, and it is your computer.

I can't explain it any easier. Just:
-install bitlord to your hard drive
-download/save .torrent files for the torrents that you wish to download to your hard drive
-open the .torrent files you downloaded with bitlord to start your torrent.

Ok, even though nobody has taken notice of my plea yet...I thought I would update the situation..and I'm going to delete my earlier post.

I am downloading a torrent that is 38.50 MB in size. I have downloaded a total of 50.65 MB's. It is telling me I have 18.50 MB left to download and that I am 51.9% done with the download. I have been downloading this for 10 hours 40 minutes and 15 seconds. What is going on here? I may not be a math expert but if a file is 38.50 MB in size and you download 50.65 MB's and its still not done theres something wrong there right? Please someone tell me what is going on with this torrent. >.<

I don't think anyone can actually send out invites either. I asked Kameo to send me one since he uses Demoniod for his Torrents, but he said he couldn't send out invitations. He just hosted what I wanted on a something else.

You know, I kinda agree with you bro'. I tried it, and I kept getting errors on some torrents, and the ghost stuff worked automatically for me, but UTORRENT still got all the same torrents faster, and with no errors. That's just me though, maybe it will be different for others ;)

I tried BitLord for a while, and it seemed to be banned everywhere, and where it wasn't banned, the download speed was always under ten KBPS. I use Azureus on this computer, because I found out how to install plugins, and Utorrent on my other computer, because it's less cluttered or something.

Well I've downloaded a craploada stuff, and I had some kind of funny feeling yesterday about getting nail by the cops( Not that, pervs! ). I was just wondering though. I don't think they care much about the downloader as they do the uploader, but I may be wrong.

Dudes, there is probably no one better on this site to answer this one but Kameo, see what he will say.

But for all of you that dont live in a place where you dont have to worry about getting in criminally charged, yes, (in the US, at least) you can get charged. BUt I dont think you jave much to worry about. Most of these charges are spent where they need to be spent on people who are unisg the net for stuff like chid porn, stealing, drugs, and distributing illegally pirated material. Not much time is spent trying to find someone who just wants to play a game or two for free.

Download what you want, Upload what you want. You know its mot exact;ly legal, so why worry now? too late for that. Just do what you do, and be glad law enforcment is more worried about somthing more important than petty "crimes" like downloading a torrent.

Even if the cops busted in your door tommorrow and be like, Freeze PizzaMan!! You are under arrest for downloading a Nintendo 64 Torrent! (or something)_ - its not that like thats gonna stick in court. Its a federal charge, and look at how poorly working the US federal court system is, and how far BEHIND it is in its cases. Like they are gonna really waste time and indictment budget tax dollars on you. they have bigger fish to fry, and stupider stuff to spend our tax dollars on, like the 24 million spent last year on Jimmy Hoffa search. WHo the Hell cares?! People are getting stupider by the minute, and you still wan t to know where Jimmy freakin hoffa is? Like hes gonna fix your problems, and you can make an after shool special about it, and we are gonna forget what you are doing to the world and its people?

I use bitlord and it works great for me.It took 2 days just todl star wars jedi knight jedi outcast 2,and i got that installed and I played it.Some torrents like Bass Avenger when i downloaded that game it woulndn't go to 1% at all.i donno why it didn't o that.it Didn't have no peers or seeds.Can't i get seeds and Peers from somewhere for that Bass Avenger Torrent?
