3d Castlevania...bllleuuuuhhh

The 2d castlevania games were the best but the new 3d ones on ps2 really suck anyone else agrees?

I have loved the Castlevania series for a long time and I think the move to 3D is a great one. I would play the game either way but I doubt they would sell very many copies of a 2D game nowadays no matter how good they made it. And the bottom line is that Konami is in the business to make money so if they didn't think they would make a profit off of a game they wouldn't make it.
And besides, the technology is there so they might as well use it and just the fact that we get to keep playing games with such a well written storyline (IMO) and back ground makes me happy.

One of the things that I really like about this one is the fact that the elemental bosses are optional and you don't have to defeat them to win the game but if you do you are rewarded with new elemental whips.
So yea, I love the series and hope they keep making the games and improving on them. Final Fantasy is starting to get a little stale and if XII doesn't really have a lot going for it I'll need at least one tradition to carry on well.

I have to agree to dissagree. LoI for PS2 was a surpirsingly better upgrade to the old ones. It has cool bosses and a ton of control techinuiqe. I owned it and was very hapily surprised after playing it.

I thought the 3d ones i played were crap, Nothing compares to symphony of the night or Dawn of sorrow for ds.

Well the way I see it the 2D Castlevanias are definitely better just like the 2D Metroids. However, I like playing both the 3D Castlevanias and Metroids. Lament of Innocence I didn't think was that great of a game but Curse of Darkness is definitely one of my favorites.

Legacy of Darkness is probably my favorite castlevania game. Next up is Super Castlevania. I dont mind the change to 3d at all.

Castlevania on N64 did suck, but the PS2 Castlevania game was better than all the other in the serie.
