...wow...no

Emulators let you play downloaded content, you cant play a CD on it, its not an actual gamecube, its a computer program

tut for starters im not i div I NO WHAT AN EMULATOR IS (the rest of this entry is not for vyperbites eyes but instead someone who ACTUALY KNOWS SOMTHING about emulators) the psx emu ePSXe lets you play the actual psx CD's through the comp's CDROM drive so I thought maby the gamecube emu can. I started up the dolpin emu and i noticed that its got variuos CD logos on it and other things refering to CDROM and DVD settings? So can this particular emulator run gamecube CD's?

I doubt very highly that it would play an actual CD of the type that the GCN uses because of the different type of the drive required to play them but I'm sure you could burn the games onto a regular CD and play them off of that.
Your Emulator should have come with a read me file when you downloaded it and that should tell you a lot of the tech on it. If not why not just go to the site of the people who make it? http://www.dolphin-emu.com/
If you can't find the answers yourself just log onto the forum and ask people who actually use it and work with it.

yes thanks i noticed you said that we need a diffrent type of drive to play them. If you are simply refering to the size of the disk that dosnt mean we need a difrent type of drive they can still be played in most new computers drives. If you look in your CD rm tray you will find that there is antother groove inside the large CD part. That is to play smaller disks, thesse are often included with mp3 players or other media devices. If that is totaly irelavent to your point I oplogise.

I thought that the drives actually read the discs differently because of the way that the data is written onto them and the Gamecube uses a optical disc. Of course I could be completely wrong but that's what I thought. Did you go to the site and find out?

Hi Savking,

The Gamecube uses a disk that is not only a different size than most disks but a different data density as most disks it's size. It would be like sticking a DVD into a CD player.

Also the GC Disk is read in the opposite direction as a CD. I'm not sure if that means it's spun the other way or if the data is read from the outer edge to the inner but one of the two.

In short, the answer is 'NO' you cannot read GC Disks in a computer.

GC discs are 1.5 GB, basically the same data density as a DVD the disc is just smaller so it only holds 1.5GB instead of 4.7GB as DVD Rs do. I think the discs spin the same way but the data is written from outside edge to inside edge. I think Nintendo did this on pupose to prevent pirating of the games, as they can't be burnt on regular DVD burners. Xbox discs are the same way, but not PS1 or PS2 discs so they can be copied and used using regular PC burners.
