Ha, you were almost there. I believe it was Samurai Pizza Cats! I used to watch it all the time in the mornings before going to school when I was in 8th or 9th grade.

As for my first anime, I dunno if this counts, but playing Lunar: The Silver Star for Sega CD when I was 10 is my first recollection of seeing anime and knowing it was anime(although most of the cutscenes are actually stills). After that it was the original Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and whatever anime movies they would play on Sci-Fis Anime Saturday, though I don't recall most of the names of the movies. The one I seem to remember the most was 8-Man After.

Yep, Grendizer and Mazinger got some things in common, both were created by Go Nagai... and Koji Kabuto (from Mazinger) is in Grendizer anime... so it shall be two periods of the same story or an else world... I'm not sure... I've never seen that much of any of those two.

i couldn't tell you the first true anime i watched. i've been watching them for years and years and years since i was a youngun.

the first full length film anime i watched was AKIRA. i know that much.

i suppose my first sit down and watch all the episodes type thing with collection and dvd, it'd be when i was lent HELLSING and Outlaw Star by a friend on DVD. i tend to buy a series and watch it in a week or two (depending on episode count) though i also watch alot of films and play games so sometimes anime gets a backseat.

As I aged, my tastes refined and my methods became more effective. Internet Streaming, Series Downloading, etc. My knowledge of the VAST vast world of the genre expanded as well and I am now exposing myself to various kinds of series'.

Bleach has an awesome first season but after about 150 episodes they run out of ideas and the result is crap.

i too used to watch that, and liked it(its fun looking back on shows you used to watch when you were like 6-10ish and wondering how you ever liked it XD) though im pretty sure dbz came first for me :D

Although, what really brought me in to the genre was Fatal Fury.

I can always easily remember mine because I didn't really watch much as a kid, living in europe with lack of internet did'nt really work out well for me.

I do remember another anime I saw as a kid but I can never remember its name, I remember it had something to do with three brothers who were supposed to have dragon blood or somthing like that which meant they had inhuman strength, my main memory of it is when the youngest one had an assault rifle pointed at him and he just grinned and bent it right back at him.

DBZ when I was about 6 or 7. I remember watching it on toonami. As a kid I REALLY got into it, but didn't appreciate it as the anime/artwork it was and treated it like a cartoon. The first anime I watched that I appreciated as an anime and not a cartoon, was Hellsing. That anime gave me the mindset to determine anime vs a cartoon.
