BitDefender 8 Standard updating issue

I've been concerned about my anti-virus program for quite a while now.

Every time I ask it to search for updates, it always comes back empty-handed. I wouldn't be concerned if it only did this a few times, but it has never ever updated itself.

Could anyone give any insight at all as to why this is?

Did you buy it? If you did, then your time period has run out, if you didn't... that's a different story!

Like I bought Norton, and got one year of free updates. Now that the year is over, I still have Norton, but no updates.

Wel then the only thing I can think of is:

1. It is getting the updates, but it's not telling you. Like an automatic update thingy.
2. It's not getting updates because of something else. Like if it's a pirated version, sometimes they can check for those things. ( I had BitDefender which I "found" and it slowed the hell out of my computer. )
