What game do you believe was the one of, if not the most controversial in gaming history?
Personally, I'm torn between Mortal Kombat (all the steam it received when it first came out) and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (especially after the "hot coffee" code leak).
Doom, silly. Ahh... good ol' Doom.

ehhh...
What about Liesure Suit Larry (NOT the new one, the OLD ones)
they had a pretty big uproar when they came out, srtiking attacks that it was vulgar and a "smut" game.
also, the incredibly old text DOS game, DopeWars. This one was HUGE way back before our time. and parents everywhere went nuts because their kids were sitting at the Computer labs at school, peddling crack and other drugs on a PC game. VERY controversial in its time, and it was only a text game!

I don't know what everyone means by controversial. Within the game, or the people playing it? In my opinion, if you're under 13, it takes some serious anger management to persist in sanity when you're getting your *** kicked in Super Smash Bros. for N64.

Hot coffee, has been done before.
Try Playing Fahrenheit which is the uncensored european version of the game known in the USA as the Indigo Prophecy you actuallly have to "use your game" to score with your ex-girfriend when she comes to get her stuff from your apartment. and if you succeed, you must use your analog sticks to thrust(need i say more).
And, it's one of my FAVORITE games of all time. VERY fun and different! :D

I'd heard that before but I wasn't sure if it was true or not. Rather interesting.

Thrusting with the analog, that is nothing back in the day my peeps and I would spy the comp. room to see is empty. Then we sneak the filthiest game of all B, we had to hide the old 5 1/4" lest we capped walking down the hall and have to throw down.
We get a Apple ][e and then pop in Lemonade Stand. Man that game had more violence and nudity than anything. Check it, I used to get my Lemonade pimp to smack around the ice cube hoes. Stuff like that. Gettin' people hooked on your lemon and then when they can't pay sellin' 'em off one John at a time.
Really I got nothing except when I got my first 286 or 386 I got a copy of strip poker and thought that was awesome.

Pong was clearly the most controversial game of all time.
Such cutting edge technology!
Such numerous amounts of ports and remakes!
Such.... controversy!

Mario Bros. - Pulled the entire Game industry out of the slops after the 1983 crash.
Super Mario Bros. - Set the standard for platformers as a whole.
Super Mario 64 - Same as above, only for 3D.
Goldeneye - Set the standard for FPS.
Postal - For it's violence.
Carmageddon - Again, for its violence.
There's more, but I gotta go work :) .......

Yes he did. Besides it's not even a game, that I know of.

The post was about the games of the list of the WOPR super computer in the movie WarGames. erholicus mentioned Global Thermonuclear War. Which was a game on the list. I didn't include it since it was already mentioned.

I know that Mortal Kombat was on the news, but G4 and a couple of the local channels had specials about the hot coffee mod.
