DS vs PSP and all that applies...look out this one is long

I'm all for DS...lemme tell you why...

The PSP and DS are only theoritically better than one another. When technically, they are based on two ENTIRELY different audiences...and NO I don't mean "DS IS FOR LITTLE KIDS" F*** that, you ever played Metroid Prime Hunters? I'd like to see a 5-year-old whip that thing out. Here are my views on both handhelds...

PSP - Sony themselves specifically said "This is not a gaming device. The PSP's primary function is NOT the UMD Games. This is a device designed for specificly mulitmedia." The PSP is a MULTIMEDIA device. Meaning it covers, Audio, Video, Picture, Web Browser, and Gaming. The audio, although loud, is not very clear. the speakers are very tiny making low frequencies a no-show. And the largest ScandDisc out there is a 4gig or around there. Why would you spend $400 on a PSP and a 4gig scandisc card when you can spend half that on an iPod with 80 gigs? The Flat panel LCD screen provides a very clear picture for...er...pictures however the Dead pixles are a large drawback, When watching videos...You better bring your car charger because the PSP wont last longer than a couple hours watching a video from the UMD drive. The web browser, that is, SO COOL >_>...has NO java applet usage, or video download capabilities, meaning about all you can do is go to google and myspace...and the typing method is VERY inconvenient. The Gaming with the device is good and bad, Yes, the graphics are nicer than that of all other handhelds. No you don't get award winning titles that MEAN something such as Zelda, Metroid, and Secret of Mana. Rather, you get average titles such as Need for Speed and Grand Theft Auto. Wich can be fun for a couple of days.

DS - The DS, is unlike any other handheld. Nintendo has alwayse set themselves apart by bringing us new and unique ways to play our games. The DS, now best as the DS Lite, has a numerous amount of aspects that make it unique. The folding screen adds to durability and portablility, The DS Lite's "sleek" look adds style. The colors and styles for the DS are limitless making them available for personal custumization. The touchscreen adds an emense amount of comfortable, unique, advanced, and endless gameplay. The fact that the DS is from Nintendo Promises us releases of all the best titles like Bomberman, Megaman, Zelda, Metroid, Mariokart, Mario Bros., and many many more. The wifi capabilities are perfect for on-the-spot mulitplayer gameplay and internet browsing. Wich might I add DOES have java and video download. Also the touchscreen makes typing MUCH easier than the PSP. Nintendo is obsurdly notorious for thier addictive multiplayer battles.

So lets break this down.

PSP
Colors - Black, White
Top Game Titles to look forward to - Need for Speed, Gran Tourismo, Grand Theft Auto, Tony Hawks Pro Skater. Basically a bunch of boring racing games, shooting games, and action games with bad humor.
Leads - Nice picture, Loud audio, UMD Drive for games and movies, Sleep black style, Solo games.
Drawbacks - Dead Pixles, Limited Internet Browser, Small Buttons, Very limited multiplayer capabilities, VERY Expencive, EXTREMELY Fragile, NO addicting games...mostly boring 1 player ones. Very limited memory, Low audio quality, Unreliable Internet Browser, Limited Batter Time...the list goes on

DS
Colors - Black, gray, white, crystal, blue, navy, charcoal, pink, purple, and more
Top Game Titles to look forward to - Zelda, Mario Kart, Mario Bros., Metroid, Bomberman, Megaman, Wariowares, Tetris, and MANY MORE
Leads - Thouchscreen, Affordability, Sleek design, VERY Dependable WiFi connection, Emense multiplayer capabilities, Foldable screen, Public chatting tools, More game availability with TWO game inserts instead of one, Device is durable, Nice scrollable browser that uses an actual browser, 'Opera'. Games have in-depth storylines to keep you captivated, Long lasting battery.
Drawbacks - Limited FPS, no picture, music, or video opertunities.

Basically, you wanna listen to music? get an iPod, you wanna watch a DVD? GO HOME! You wanna look at pictures? go get a camera...you wanna play games? Get a DS Lite!

I personally own a DS Lite, DS "fat",and a PSP. Ive had my DS for three years and I still use it. My PSP fell off my monitor, only 2 feet onto my desk and the screen shattered, shows how durable those are...my DS has been run over by a kid on a bike...and its still fine. My multimedia is left for my laptop though ;) go alienware.

MICROSOFT - The XBox360 will be awarded with it's BEAUTIFUL graphics accelerator and proccessing unit...but will become boring after Halo 3 comes out and the public finds that Halo 3 is NO DIFFERENT from the other 2...thus gamers will rely on Nintendo to lead this darkend generation of gameplay.

NINTENDO - The nintedo Wii will be looked at immaturly and shyly umung gamers and residence throughout the globe. But once played they will find that the 4th demention motion censor, depth sensor, voice activation, rumbe sensitivity gameplay will resolve in a revalutionary new way to entertain themselves. Also the fact that any kid with an allowance can afford one. At $250 you can get the wii, controller, and a game right off the bat. While the PS3 is at about $600 and the X360 is around $400.

THUS NINTENDO RULES ALL!!!!!! MICROSOFT NEEDS TO STICK WITH COMPUTERS AND SONY NEEDS TO GO BACK TO MAKING CD PLAYERS! THEY DONT BELONG IN THIS WORLD!....this is nintendos world...

Actually the web browser can play video and use java to a degree. Java-wise it can use the script to play flash. And some video's can be watched. Just there's next to nothing good to watch. The PSP's web browser could be useful those who spend time on the internet in forums and the like. So it's not a complete waste.

That list is missing Megaman and Twisted Metal as those games were pretty good on the PSP.

Agreed. I think the PS3 is far too overpriced and that most gamers will want it because of the graphics. I don't think the system will "crash miserably" due to hoping that Sony will wise up. That and when the RPGs start hitting it.

You forget about Xbox Live which adds a gaming community to the games played. And so what if Halo 3 turns out to be not much different than Halo 2 or 1? Didn't stop people from playing Doom 3 or Quake 4 which are both like their predecessors.

Even you must admit that Revolution is a much better name than Wii even with the concept of why it was called Wii.

TRUE gamers are the ones who immerse themselves in the game and truly enjoy playing the game regardless of how it is being played or what system it is on.

I too am a Nintendo mark, but I wouldn't take it that far. To say the PSP has no enjoyable games is an exaggeration in my opinion.

Simple as.I would tend to agree w/ Gogz. I am almost exclusively pro-nintendo. I think Nintendo has been overlooked and under rated for too long. But I aslo would not go as far as to say that the PSP has nothing going for it. Like everything else ever made, there are good points and bad.

DS Good: Inventive, creative, touch screen adds alot of possiblities, great nitnedo franchises
DS Bad: Mostly underrated compared to the PSP. Wi-fi is sweet but sometimes it is very hard to get a game

PSP Good: Superior hardware, more adult capabilities (aka web) has an analog stick (hey its not amazing but its got one)
PSP Bad: Price, lack of fanboy francises (so far)

So there is just a small bit of my two cents. If you don't agree with me feel free to say so, just as long as you can truly back it up.

What? Of course that's the primary function, even if Sony says it isn't, it's a "Handheld game console" so that means the primary function is games. Is that why millions of people have lined up outside for days to get one? Or that people are selling on eBay for thousands of pounds? The system will NOT crash miserably, because there a millions of diehard Sony fanboys that will buy it. And even if it did, Sony would still be in business because they make millions from other products. There are more PS2s sold per month than 360s and Wiis. (NOTE: I SAID PS2, NOT PS3)

That and when the RPGs start hitting it.

Well, not Final Fantasy XIII, because that will have close to no gameplay, but Square is releasing more RPGs for PS3 than Wii and 360, hell, all Wii gets is another Crystal Chronicles game.

But not MPH. Both chat via text between matches along with microphone use being allowed between matches. So it's not THAT bad.

Cough... PSP could play SNES and NES games aswell as other homebrews when comfortabally sought at firmware 1.5

IMO PSP>DS
Why? Because I liked it where I could take some SNES games on the road with some music, and browse online. Plus, GTA LCS and Grip Shift keep me entertained for days! Not to mention, NFS MW, Ape Escape On the Loose, and other great titles for the PSP.

Even since I went up to 2.81, I still am happy to hold a PSP over an I-Pod since those break even easier than a PSP. They freeze every 10 mins of music listening, and can't be turned off. Who want's crap like that?

Well thanks to a very helpful friend of mine, I've changed my mind. The DS is better, because you can play NDS, GBA, NES, and some other ROMs on it. All you need to buy is a couple of things and there you go. I find that pretty sweet.
