The recommended emulator for this game is Mupen64. Do you know where to download the Mupen64 emulator?
Also, use Glide64 as your graphics plugin, and these issues should be fixed.

Remember to use Glide64 as your graphics plugin.

:mad2: I changed the graphics to Glide64, and when I started Resi 2, a notice titled "unknown Task" appeared. It said this:
unknown task:
type:1
sum:2ad18
PC:18cbb0
Any ideas WTF that means? Could you help please?
Thanks again

Uh, no, Idk what that means, but it sounds like you picked a wrong gui command or something.
Let's see...do you get the same error when you try using any of the other graphics plugins, or do the other plugins work so the game starts successfully?

I tried all the graphics plugins, but they all generate the same error when the emulation begins. If you don't know what's going on, ill fiddle for a while. LoL. :mad2:

Let's try this, then. Go back to using Project64. When using Jabo's Direct3D 8 as your graphics plugin, choose the "Configure Graphics Plugin..." command from the Options menu in Project64. What does the blue text at the top-left of the plugin configuration dialoge say?

Using Jabo direct 3D? How do i change it to that? Anyway, the blue text says Inno3D GeForce 7600 GT (my graphics card)

With a graphics card like that, this emulator should work. It could be your other PC specifications, but I won't bother you about that.
So, let's try Mupen64 again. Choose the File/Open command in Mupen64, browse for the ROM Resident Evil 2, open the ROM file, and the game should start.

Every time I try that, the dreaded "Unknown Task" box appears again. Perhaps I should download a PS1 Emulator and try Resi 2 on that.
Thanks yet again

Then there are only two possibilities for this: Your PC has a problem, some kind of glitch or a bug. You are not really having this issue and you are just testing me and trying to stump me. (No, I trust you, man.)So go ahead and try that PSX version and see how that works out.

Then I guess my PC has some sort of bug or setting that won't allow me to play Resident Evil 2:( :mad2:

It's not Resident Evil 2; it's Mupen64. Your PC just has some sort of conflict in it...Idk.
How about Project64? Try using the Glide64 graphics plugin with Project64. Only Mupen64 can truly be used in conjunction with Glide64 to fully support flame coronas, but Project64 should work nice, too. In Project64, choose the "Settings..." command from the Options menu. Change your graphics plugin to Glide64, and click OK. If Glide64 does not appear in the list of graphics plugins, try installing Mupen64 to the same directory where you have Project64 installed, and the option should become available after that.
Other than that, good luck with the PSX ISO version.
