well I've been having a few issues with gens. I can't ever get it to run Sonic CD. I put in all the bios, then I ran the .iso file of Sonic CD. Then the rom starts. then it says "Initialize the ram cartridge" or something like that. so what am I suppossed to do there?
*Also, when I try to put in the bios the screen just disappears and the program is gone.
you need to format the bram cart in the bois menu hold c down in the starting screen and go to cart and format it

Sega CD / Mega CD
Emulator Compatibility List
(c) by Christian Schiller
For testing, the model 1 BIOS files of all three regions were used (see "recommended" BIOS files on my Sega CD development page), except for AGES, where I used the European model 2 BIOS 9306 (because the model 1 BIOS doesn't work at all). All games were tested directly from CD, not as ISO or ISO+MP3.
Compatibility with all emulators might be tweaked with using different BIOS versions, different emulator options or using ISO(+MP3) instead of real CDs. However, discussing these tweaks does not lie in the scope of this document. Please do not mail me because of it, but feel free to share that information with others in the Tavern. If you've got any further questions, feel free to visit the Tavern (message board of Eidolon's Inn) and ask them there.
The following test environment and emulator options were used:
Computer: Pentium-3 @ 900MHz running with Windows 2000 Professional SP2, DirectX 8.1.
Name US JP EU
Captain Tsubasa AGES 0.26 orange
(corrupt graphics)
Gens 1.30 green
Xega 0.09 red
Color codes
1- green - game is perfectly playable and emulated 100% correctly
2- yellow - has some minor/neglectable graphics and/or sound glitches, but is playable
3- orange - has severe graphics and/or sound bugs, or crashes during intro or later in game
4- red - crashes before or at Sega copyright screen
i have downloaded the emulator says GEN 1.30 but i bot know which bios file i have to attach i have the following bios file
1- eu_mcd_1_9210
2- us_scd1_9210

I just tested the game, and it works fine.
This is the version of Gens I ran the test on Gens v2.12b (http://dl.coolrom.com/emulators/genesis/gens-win32-2.12b.zip)
Try that
Also for setting up bios and other helpful stuff follow this Thread

You should be up and running in no time.
