Why do Asians have huge eyes in Anime/Manga, and Americans have small eyes?

I am a little offended by the way the nipponese portray Foreigners in anime. For one thing, it is unrealistic.
Asians don't have big eyes.
Americans, Europeans, and Africans do.
I also bought a book about Busidjo, or women around the world.
It featured a chapter on how to draw mongloids, Caucasiods, and negroids.
There is another bias in this chapter. White women are featured as having the largest, most round, fullest hips, buttocks, breasts and lips, while black and Asian women are featured as second to them.
As far as lips, hips, and buttocks go, this is not true. Black women are very developed in those areas. As far as breasts, their about the same.

I know what your thinking; I must be a black woman.
Indeed, I am not.
I am half Asian, and half Aryan. So I am not trying to be a biased hypocrite myself.
I just think that people of different races in Anime are taken way out of context.

It's just some animation, U really shouldn't bother with it too much, or U can choose not to watch it if U find it offensive. I'm Caucasian, and I really don't care about how the Japanese portrait any one of my race, it's just some cartoon, which means it's not real ;).


Besides, I've learned from experience that Asian females really dig us Caucasian guys, so I'm all fine with it :D.

It just the cultural point of view of the anime drawers about other ethnic groups. It may be unreal and offensive to some people but it's just a cartoon. I have seen worst things in non-animated t.v. shows.:)

I can't find anything to back it up, but I remember seeing something about this in a book.

From what I remember the Big eyed characters represented good ,and the narrow eyed characters represented evil. Now this may have been referring to an earlier time period, and not be the same now. Who knows? This is just what I remember reading, it's been a good ten years since I read that.

If you're liable to get THAT offended by a cartoon, you're probably one of those people that tries to get things like Harry Potter banned on account of the magic being black magic that teaches children to worship the occult, or some other bull**** like that. It's just a cartoon, chill out a bit.

from what ive read, anime and manga characters have big eyes (and hair) to accent their expression/mood. as for the breast and buttocks, etc. it is just the artists style.

You shouldn't bump 2 year old threads, but i'll answer your question.

Smaller than normal = natural size for a japanese woman, usually if the anime isn't full of fan service or borderline pornography the main heroine will be this size.

In the case of fan service however, it's a gimmick to draw the crowds.

Well in Anime They draw the eyes bigger because it shows more emotion.

American's don't have emotions. Therefore we do not deserve bigger eyes.
