Wow alright no one has ever answered you but Yes it is a great Anime now it is rather confusing and twisted and if you don't watch both of the movies as well then you will be really p***ed at the ending

Its' worth seeing until the ending...which then you will have to find the two videos associated with it(which will be worth the cost of admission, don't worry). Confusing, but truly disturbing and beautiful(like Satoshi-sensei's Paranoid Agent and Perfect Blue). However, that's only if you're willing to see it through to the true conclusion.

i tried going into the anime with an open mind and was hoping it would be cool.

its not.

the concept is WAY WAY WAY to "deep" and action is way way way to fast the characters are way way way to damn annoying to be left alive and the ending(s) will make your brain explode.

All right. I'll give you a straight-out objective answer to this.

NGE (Neon Genesis Evangelion) is a show that should be watched with an open mind, eyes, and ears. The show's premise is purely psychological. If you don't like to think about why a person makes an action or behaves in the way that they do, then this is not your show.

The key words for NGE are "character development." The story developed out of the author's own personal shortcomings and issues and follows the main character's attempt to overcome these same issues. If you enjoy a good Bildungsroman, then this is definitely your story, as the entire ending is a plunge into the main character's mind, explaining HOW and WHY he overcomes his fears and angers.
