Question about list of protected games

Glancing at the list of protected games, I noticed that final fantasy was on the list, and so therefore we shouldnt ask for those games. but ff3 was on first on the top 20 downloads list ( and i just downloaded it), as well as final fantasy 2. also, pokemon gold and doom were on the top 20 as well as restricted list. what gives...?

Shhh! you aren't supposed to tell them that! The more games on the site the better (illegal or not);)

Since you brought it up and it's no secret now, I have always wondered that myself. I have noticed those ESA protected games in the roms files too.

My guess is that they were either forgotten to remove them by accident, or the ESA didn't notice them, so they didn't bother to remove them.

Could be the roms listed in the Rules of Rom Request forum are just wrong too.

Is there like an official list of ESA protected titles on the ESA website or somewhere?

i dunno about that, but i was just wondering bc i wanted a dk country rom, but i didnt know whether i was allowed to ask for it or not lol

Thank you for your concern, guys :). Anyways to start off, we were approached by the ESA half a month ago, and they requested us to remove the following titles:

Donkey Kong
Mario
Rayman
Zelda

and we rightfully did. Now regarding the other protected titles, we just left them on the site thinking that the ESA had no problems with them. But we can be very wrong, and if they request us to remove it, we will do so immediately. In order to keep the ROM requests forum organized, we still do not allow requests for ESA protected titles. Hope that clears things up :).
