I just downloaded the SNES full rom set from Kameo's post. I guess it is supposed to be a .7z file, I tried to extract it using WinRAR but it won't extract, it says "no files to extract" but it is taking up 200MB.
Any ideas?

Also, i don't get a password promt as I did when I downloaded some other .rar files.

What program did you use to compress these Kameo? Maybe I can use the same one to uncompress them.

U need to DL all four of them, not one. Once U have them all U extract the one with the .001 extention...

Ahh, okay. I will do that and get back to you after they all four have downloaded, thanks:)

In the rom request section Kameo posted a sticky to links to download full rom sets. She has full sets for ALOT of systems there.:D Here is a link to that post.

http://www.coolrom.com/forums/showthread.php?t=435

Here's the direct links to all the SNES roms.

SNES - 917 Games - PW: KameoSNES

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2GFT2YE3

Wait 45 seconds for your download link to appear at the top of the page.
You can only download one file at a time though.

You have to download all 4 of sets to be able to unzip them and they are 200MB each, so you will be downloading 800MB total.
Use the password KameoSNES when you unzip them.
I hope you have a high speed connection:)

Thanks again to Kameo for all her hard work in uploading these files.:)

I don't have high speed internet, but I am getting it this comeing Friday or Saturday and xbox live. Maybe me and you will play one day.

I don't have an Xbox:(

I have a cable connection that is very fast, and it is taking me over an hour to download each SNES ROM set.

Maybe we can play online with ZSNES if anyone can ever figure out how to get the online play to work:)

Do you have to register on the website?

jambog
04-08-2006, 03:38 PM
No, its free to use without registration. At the top of the page to the right side you will see a small box that says "Please wait 45 seconds..." and the timer will start counting down.

When it gets to around only having only 10 secons left a pop up add will appear over the link. Just ignor the ad and click the X to close it. Wait for the rest of the timer to countdown and then it will say "Click here to download" click it and it will say "Loading Download" wait a few seconds and will pop up and ask you to save.

After you save the file you will have to add the .7z extension to the file and use a program like WinRAR to unzip it.

If you need any help after you get the files downloaded let me know. Remember you have to download all 4 before you can unzip them.

Is there a full download list for nintendo64?Also do I have to have the games to play on the computer?

jambog
04-08-2006, 04:02 PM
I think Kameo is going to upload N64 full set eventually, I don't know when though. As of right now you just have to download N64 games individually. What do you mean do you have to have the games to play on the computer?

Kameo: I still am having trouble extracting the files. I just got all of them downloaded and tried to extract the files and it still says No Archives found:confused:

I have the files named liked this
file one is named SNES%20.7z
file two is..........SNES%20-2.7z
three................SNES%20-3.7z
four..................SNES%20-4.7z

I tried extracting just the first one, then then others and none of them will. I am using WinRAR to try to unzip them. Any ideas to what I should do? Thanks:)

U need to DL all four of them, not one. Once U have them all U extract the one with the .001 extention...

I renamed the files with the .00x extensions, but that doesn't make them a winrar file. I loaded them into winrar and tried to extract anyway, but got the same no arhcives found.

HELP US KAMEO, PLEASE:)

Kameo
04-08-2006, 05:01 PM
U shouldn't rename the extention, only the file name IF the four of them don't have the same name.

And it doesn't ask U for a password until U've extracted the 7.z file. I RAR'ed it first into a 779MB file which I split up into four separate files using 7.z....

Kameo
04-08-2006, 05:11 PM
Now I see it, U shouldn't mess with the extentions, dont rename them to 7.z.

They should come in as SNES #.7z.001, SNES #.7z.002, SNES #.7z.003, SNES#.7z.004.

Only rename the files if one of them says something else than I just described above, if the files R named the same, don't rename them, none of it, especially not the extentions.

Just extract by choosing the file that says 7z.001, that's it, WinRAR or 7.z will do the rest. There's no password for extracting the four files, the password is required for the RAR archive that's in them ;)...

jambog
04-08-2006, 08:53 PM
When I downloaded the files they were named "SNES%20" and none of them had any file extension. I renamed them all to Snes #.7z.001 and so on like you listed above. Now that I put the .00x extension on them I can no longer right click and select "Extract here" because they are no longer WinRAR files. So I open winrar.exe and browse to my folder, select the .001 and click extract and get no archives found:confused:

Here is what I am seeing on my screen, is it right?

I am highlighting the .001 file and click extract to and that pops up:confused:

jambog

You can change the file extension by going to "Start" "Control Panel" "Folder Options" and click the "View" tab in the folder options box. Find the check box that says "Hide extensions for known file types" and uncheck that box. then you will be able to delete the .rar and change it to the correct extensions.

Note: Switch the control panel to "Classic View" if it isn't already in that view.

EDIT: how do i make it into a picture?

Just click the the insert image icon (the little yellow one that looks like a picture of a mountain with the sun in it) and post your link in the box that pops up and the pic will be shown directly in the post.

That pic is way to small for me to see, I enlarged it but it got too out of focus for me to read anything. Can you make it bigger?

I also only noticed 3 files in the pic, have you downloaded all 4 of them?

This is for another download, with 3 files only the files names are,
SMD%20.7z.001
SMD%20-2.7z.002
SMD%20-3.7z.003
EDIT:IDK what uploading site i should use to make the pic bigger

jambog
04-09-2006, 12:06 AM
rename them to

SMD #.7z.001
SMD #.7z.002
SMD #.7z.003

EDIT: I just put the pics on my geocities website so I can make them as big as I want

use this program too http://www.7-zip.org/ I couldn't get winRAR to work to unzip them

pizzaman
04-09-2006, 12:11 AM
Ok but what do i do then?
Do i make them into a .rar file, or what?

jambog
04-09-2006, 12:15 AM
No, you just be able to right click on the first file (SMD #.7z.001) and select "7-zip" and choose "Extract here" then it extracts a RAR that is equal to the size of all three of the files combined. Then just extract the .rar file and use the password when prompted.

When I extracted the .7z files it didn't work the first time, it only extracted the rar file that was like 8MB:confused: I just deleted the 8MB rar file and extracted the .7z files again and it extracted the full 800MB rar file.

pizzaman
04-09-2006, 12:31 AM

jambog
04-09-2006, 12:34 AM
Did you download and install the program from this site? http://www.7-zip.org/

Why do you have a .F1 file:confused: You should name them exactly like this:

SMD #.7z.001
SMD #.7z.002
SMD #.7z.003

so you would have a .001 file, a .002 file, and a .003 file.

You only need to right click on the .001 file and select 7-Zip then extract here.
That will extract all three files into one .rar file.

pizzaman

Well now i know the problem, that program that i installed(7-zip) doesnt work for some reason:mad:

jambog
04-09-2006, 12:57 AM
No, like I said I tried winRAR and it didn't work. I had no problems with 7-zip though? here is what mine looks like:

After I installed the 7-zip program it added the feature I have highlighted in the pick to the menu when I right click on the file.

Did you download the 32-bit or the 64-bit version?

EDIT: Hmm, like I said the first time I did it it didn't extract the .rar file right, so i deleted the file it did extract and did it again the same way and it worked.

pizzaman

No thats when it siad that there were no archives
But maybe its because i changed the files so much that they got currupted
Whats your guess?

I changed my file names so many times its not even funny, and mine didn't get corrupted. So are you able to extract the .rar file? If so how big is the .rar file?

When I had the no archives found error, I couldn't get it to even extract a .rar file period.

I am downloading the SMD files right now too, it will be a few hours before I get them though. I will try it and see if it works for me, could be a problem with the files that were uploaded.

I just finished downloading them and I had a lot of trouble with unzipping them. I had to completly re-download the .003 file. Once I finally got the 3 files extracted to 1 .rar file I couldn't use winrar to extract that (even though I always have used winrar to extract .rar file) but the 7-z program worked fine on extracting the .rar file. I guess I'll just use 7-z from now on.

I am using the Fusion emulator on my roms, it seems to be working well and you only have to use the one emu for the SG1000, SC3000, Master System, Game Gear, Genesis/Megadrive, SegaCD/MegaCD and 32X, so it should be the only emulator you need for the sega roms.

You can get in on coolrom.com but its not the most recent version. I got the most recent version on this site

On Fusion hit Shift+F5 and it brings up a promt where you want to save you game at. type whatever you want to save the file as in the file name box then give it a .GSX extension, like Sonic.GSX if you were saving a sonic game.
The .GSX extension is for SMD roms only, saving a SMS rom requires a .SSX extension to the save file. Each rom needs a different extension on its save file but it tells you want extension the save file needs when saving, but you do need to type the extension youself (It doesn't add the extension automatically).

There is a quick save feature using by hitting just F5 that is supposed to save the game without you needing to type in the save name or extension, but I can't get it to work. I'm sure it has something to do with setting a save directory, but I'm too lazy to figure it out. using the Shift+F5 command works for me for now. To load a saved game, load the ROM file first then hit Shift+F8 and then browse to whatever save file you need to laod.

That program I used to join the three files into one .7z that I can execute. Like in the same folder as hj-join I put, SMD #.7z.001, SMD #.7z.002, SMD # .7z.003 and then I clicked the Join executable and it joined them into one. That one I extracted and it became SMD #.rar. Then I extracted the .rar to the Gens/Roms directory I created and there you go.

Yes, I understood how you joined and extracted them on your first post about it. What I was confused about was that pizzaman already had them extracted and needed info about playing/saving the roms. I think me and him were both confused about why you were telling us how to extracte them when he already had that step done:confused: I thought your post someway related to actually playing/saving the rom since that's what the question was about.

You don't need to use hj join to extract them anyway. You said before you used hj join to join them as one .7z file then used 7-zip to extract it to a .rar. file. You only need to have the 3 files in the same folder and use 7-z to extract the first file and it autimatically extracts the other 2 with it as long as they are named correctly. hj join is a neat program, but really just adds another unneeded step to this process. 7-z is should be the only program you need.

I hope that my last post settled the problem you had with saving pizzaman, if not, just let me know:)

Yea im trying that out right now, but does it work the same way for the NES emulator fceu?

jambog
04-12-2006, 01:10 AM
Yes, it works almost exactly like FCEU, except it has the convenience of the Shift+F5 shortcut key, and of course you have to use the different file extensions on your saves.

I figured out how to use the quick save by just hitting F5 key. You have to go to Options > Set Config then go to the SMS/GG and Genesis tabs and make the paths of the State Files the same thing. Then you just push F5 and it automatically saves a file to the path you indicated with the name of the rom you are playing. Its a little quicker then using the Shift+F5 method, but either works.

I had to change the state files path to something other then the default, I don't know why, but after I changed the paths, the F5 quick save works now.

pizzaman
04-12-2006, 03:12 PM
I dont really get by "SMS/GG and Genesis tabs and make the paths of the State Files the same thing"
And do you mean that if i do this that the game will auto save just like in project64?

Sonic
04-12-2006, 03:31 PM
jambog means that Genesis' default save directory doesnt save properly. Its best to configure a custom directory for each option.

jambog
04-12-2006, 03:37 PM
When you go to Options then Set Config it brings up a box, there are tabs at the top. I circled the SMS/GG and Genesis tabs and also the State File where you need to type where you want to save your files at. After you type a directory in the State Files text box then all you have to do it hit F5 and it automatically saves the game to that directory. When you load the rom again and hit F8 it will automatically load your last saved game for that rom.

Hmmm....good point. Ive never tried Game Gear games on it, only Sega CD but I'll try em and see if I find a setting for that. Might be that you have to get the bios for it. I just recently got my associates in PC Network Technology this past month, so that will help me a bit in diagnosing the Gens for that.

I personally prefere Jnes 0.6, it does have the quick save feature just hit F5 and it saves the file in the same folder that Jnes.exe is in, or you can choose Options then Settings.. and type you own save directory. I've always had luck with it. Then to continue the game just load the rom and hit F7 and it takes you to your last place in the game you saved.

I don't think FCE Ultra has a quick save funtion. The only way to save with it is to got to FIle then choose Save State As... to save the file, or Load State From.. to choose a save file to load. You can set up a directory under the Config then Directories option for the State Files, but it doesn't work on mine. I still have to browse to where I saved the file at to open it again. Save the files a .fc? the ? stands for the state slot so save it as .fc0 for slot 0, .fc1 for slot 1 and so on.

Ok sure ill try that one:)

An excuse to revive the thread if links are invalid.

I hear from some that an unpopular emulator named NNNesterJ is the best NES emulator.

Well... (apart from N64 and GBA) The GameCube has been able to emulate all the consoles, perhaps not as well as PCs, but as emulation goes, it is the #1 in terms of closeness to what the original console felt like...
It also runs on Wii's as well...

The machines have to be modded, but it's possible to run the GameCube one through a softmod solution, meaning no opening up or soldering..

A program has recently been released that allows for all emulators to load up in the same gui, meaning you don't have to make separate compilations and burns for the emulator, but be able to have all on the same disc...

I'd like to have all the games I have and be able to play them on my GameCube... it would be very cool...

Plus be able to play the N64 games with texture packs on my PC... and also GBA would be pretty cool with save state and stuff...

So there's my excuse... :D

The DL-links are still working fine. Got the last one right now. :D
It's a bit funny, that there are 4 files and suddenly they started to talk about 3...

Do you even know what a fullset is? Honestly... If you don't like that fullset find another on GOOGLE. No need to ***** about something that won't be fixed.

I downloaded all four files and used 7z to combine the files and got the SNES # file at 789 MB when I tried to extract it I get a password prompt.

Can anyone let me know what the password is?

Thanks a bunch
