I am making a machine (more of a sculpture really) and I want to have two push button switches hooked up to that when I push one button the motor turns forward and when I push the other button the motor turns in reverse. Here is a schematic I started.

Like I said, the switches are push buttons. I am using a 12 volt 600 mA transformer for power and a 9-18 volt 1.98 max Amp motor I bought at radio shack. All I want it to do is when S1 is on and S2 is off the motor goes in forward and when S2 is on and S1 is off the motor goes in reverse.

I can read schematics to an extent and can use breadboards and solder to build schematics, I just can't design circuits at all. If someone could fill in my schematic and let me know what I would need (diodes, transistors etc.) I would greatly appreciate it. Surely this couldn't be too hard of a circuit for a noob to build...

I used to do this stuff at my old job, running big machines that put labels on bottles.

But to be honest my skill was barely novice level, I had a mentor. So I cant tell you how to build the thing exactly, but I can give a little advice that may help

*is the motor you are using designed to be able to run in reverse?
(motors that can will come pre-wired for this application, usually 4 wires (ground, common, hot forward polarity, hot reverse polarity)

*what kind of switch do you want to use?
(example= do you want the motor to jog constantly when the switch is hit, or do want a push-down button switch that will only let the motor jog while the button is held down?)

~excuse the lack of proper terms please ;)
