It's most likely some sort of emulation issue, not much we can do about that. Just wait for the PJ64 team to fix that in the 1.7 version of PJ64, or atleast pray for them to have solved it then ;)...

I have verssion 1.5 and the music works fine but the rest don't.

Try using 1.6 instead then ;)...

I've had a similar problem like that with Majora's Mask. What graphics plugin are you using? I fixed the blinking problem in that game; I might be able to find out how to fix this.

I am using Direct 3D HAL. Why?

what sort of error?

Yeah, it would help if you tell us what the error is on all these occassions. Windows shows lots of possible errors, but only one of those is yours, which we want to know. ;)

I've never heard of Direct 3D HAL. The graphics plugin you use counts. For example, I rarely use Rice's Video Plugin. My Majora's Mask game kept blinking because of some semitransparency problem. I enabled the Skip Frame option (which increases the blinking) and the blinking stoped. I'll search for this plugin and try to find out. Be back in a few.

You can download 5 star graphic plugins at http://www.ngemu.com/n64/pj64.php?action=plugins.

Alrighty. send me a private message when you are done, if you want to.

I've found it. No...I don't use messenger. But I've found what will merely HELP your problem with this ROM.

http://bmgcl.emuxhaven.net/files/plugins pack.zip

Click on the above link. Open the ZIP file. Go through the folders and copy the files "RiceVideo.dll" and, in the Required Files folder, "BMGLib.dll". Paste these files into your plugins folder. You will also need MSVCR71.dll and MSVCP71.dll. Google search for these files. If your desperate, I will do it for you. But I think you can do it yourself. These should go in the same directory as Project64.exe, not the plugin. I would type "download MSVCR71.dll" and "download "MSVCP71.dll". Damn, this is hard. After all of this, you should be able to use Rice's Video Plugin.

I couldn't send this as a private message because you have too many in your inbox.

Why am I still a newbie? How do you get promoted? Am I not the master...?

*EDIT*

NO. Paste BMGLib.dll in the same directory as Project64.exe. My mistake.

harger

So i should try it now? I am opining the file now.

Iconoclast

Yes, you should try it. Why do you ask first? There is nothing to fear when the master is here, excluding the fact that he isn't, for those who challenge me.

I mean...don't directy OPEN the ROM. Open Project64 and THEN emulate the ROM. Then do everything I said.

it took a few min but i got it downloaded

I am having the same problem Star Wars RG. I did everything you said with downloading and placing the .dll files in the appriate folders and when I open PJ64 and try to go to settings to change the video plugin I get two errors

This application has failed to start because bmglib.dll was not found.

Failed to load Plugin C:\Program Files\Project64 1.6\Plugin\RiceVideo.dll

I put all the .dll files in the appropriate folders according to your instructions. Are there any other plugins I need to place any where for it to work?

I know for a fact that if it says BMGLib.dll was not found, it's not where it's supposed to be. The second error occured because BMGLib.dll was not found. If you can fix the first problem, the second will be fixed. But I THINK I may have flawed. Make sure BMGLib.dll is in the same directory as Project64.exe, and this had better fix the problem.

Oh okay, I had the bmglib.dllfile in the plugins folder. Now I have it in the same folder as project64.exe and the MSVCR71.dll and MSVCP71.dll files. I have the RiceVideo.dll file in the plugin folder. Now I am getting an error saying that MSVCR71.dll is not a valid windows image and another one saying the RiceVideo.dll file is missing or invalid.

Unusual. This worked for me. I'll bet you downloaded a bad version of this DLL file. Try Googling for another. This kind of DLL may be for another purpose other than N64 emulation. And again, of course, when it says RiceVideo.dll is missing or invalid, that's because of another error that occured (in this case, the first one you said). I will look for a verision that works for me in the meantime.

This should take you to the version that worked for me.

Okay, downloaded a new version of the .dll now PJ64 loads with no errors. I still can't play Star Wars SG though. Some images show up but it is most of the screen is blocked out. I am using v6.1.1 beta of Rice's Video. Is there a different version I should try?

Iconoclast
04-10-2006, 09:35 PM
No, version 6 is the newest. But this solved the problem for Star Wars Squadron. SG? I don't know what that stands for. If you tell me, I will download it myself and experiment with the plugin's settings.

jambog

SG was a typo:o I ment RS for Rouge Squardrom. I have know idea where SG came from, lol

Yes, that's the ROM I meant. Configure this graphics plugin I've given you. On the Texture Filters tab, check the "Full TMEM Emulation" option. On the Current Game Options tab, enable the following options:

Normal Blender (to fix transparency problems)
Normal Combiner (fix other problems)
TMEM Emulation (to back up the other TMEM option just in case)
Emulate Clear (required by certain games like Donkey Kong 64 and possibly this one)

Note: I don't use Rice's Video Plugin often. It usually does bad on most games except for this one (in comparison to the other plugins). I'll continue to stick to Jabo's with most other games. If you still have conspicuous transparency problems, enable the Disable Blender option.

Still...why am I a newbie? How does promotion work?
***EDIT***
I forgot something. In the General Options tab, disable the "Hide Advanced Options" tab. Also, in order to change the "Current Game Options" tab settings, you must be running the Star Wars ROM. Then change all of these settings.

jambog

When I go to Texture Filters tab it says that Advanced Options are not allowed to be changes.

I think your status as a newbie is based on how many posts you have, not your actually knowledge of the emulators, otherwise you would be a guru:)

Okay, I was able to change all the settings you have given me. I am still getting the same errors. Here is a screenshot of what I am getting. I appreciate all your help:)

Right. But Harger said the game locks up as soon as it gets to the N64 logo. Same thing happened to me until I've tried what I've just told you. So, like I said, this only helps. It may look just as ****ty, but at least you can actually play the game with these settings. But...why bother, right?

If you are using PJ64 v1.6, make sure the Status and Notes (Core) columns are visible. If not, enable them with the Options/Settings/Rom Selection command. These toolbars will tell you this ROM has problems because it needs a video plugin.

And the members list said you posted 230 something posts. People have posted about 150 and are Emulation Gurus. So it can't be that.

jambog
04-10-2006, 10:43 PM
Ahh, I doesn't lock up anymore, but I can't really see enough of the screen to play it though, its all blotched out like the screenshot. You have taught me alot about being able to configure more advanced options of PJ64. You are a Guru in my book:D

Keep checking back. I'm sure there will be lots of questions you will be able to help answer. You will eventually get enough posts to be given the status of emulation guru.
