First you have to tell us what emulator you are using.
If you're using ZSNES ( Which I believe is the best )
Simply make sure the unzipped Roms are in the same folder as your Emulator, start your emulator and then click on the Game tab at the top. When the menu comes down, click on load and then click on the game that you want to play. Save your game as you would if you where playing on the cart ( Save state is not a good idea ) and you should be good to go the next time you want to play.

ur usin that one i sent u right?
when you have the game at a point u want to save pres "Esc" then use the mouse to click save state. then when you come to load the game click load state.
to save another game click pick state
there are 10 ( i think) spots
each can hold one save point for diffrent games
so for instance dont sav a mega man game in the same spot u saved ur ff3 game cos it will overwrite it

One question: How do you make it save it in another slot, since you mentioned overwriting.

and also: why is using save state a bad idea, elric mentioned that...

to make it save in another slot u click the pick state option below save and load, here you have about 10 slots each with room to hold save game data fror one game.
also using save state can be a bad idea i think because you can alos save games like you nomaly would on a snes, find a save point on what ever game your playing a save there. then when you restart the game load it normaly.
*this might not work for some reson but it does with me*

For some reason I've found that save States can become corrupted and you can lose all of your progress or it will make the game bug out and you have to start all over. This doesnt happen all the time but after spending 20 or thirty hours on an RPG I want to make damn sure I don't have to start all over again because my save got corrupted.
I just use the in game save and I never have a problem.
