I was wondering if you could plug like a joystick controler or something in to the computer and be able to set the project 64 emulator to use it as a controller for the games

Good question. I know you can plug in one of your N64 controllers and use them instead of your keyboard, but I do not specialize with such matters. All I know is you may need to somehow get some kind of USB adapter for enabling this. Some Guru will come along soon. If not, that's why I posted this.

Yes, you can use a standard N64 controller, you need what is called a N64 to USB converter. Just use google to search for them, they are easily available. Here is a link to one. http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=10&products_id=93 they range in price from about $9 - $13
You can use pretty much any standard USB controller too. I prefere using the N64 to USB adapter though cause it gives you a better N64 experience.
If you don't have an N64 controller, they are cheap as well, around $12, you can find them at Gamestop, EB, ebay ect.
If you don't have a controller and can't afford one you can use a different controller plugin such as N'Rage's to use the Mouse axis to move. It isn't as good as using a controller, but it beats using only the keyboard to navigate in a 3D world.
To set PJ64 up to use a controller simply go to Options then Configure Controller Plugin... Its pretty simple from there

I purchased the "Boom" brand "PSX+N64 USB Converter off ebay from Lik-sang.com, ps1,ps2, and N64 controllers work great with winXP, yet to see the vibrate function work (haven't tried N64 rumble pak yet); but it is PERFECT with the Project 64 emu otherwise. A Great buy

You think I could get that in a local store? Or do I have to go and buy it off the internet?

No way. Sorry. You wont find it any chain store. And you'd be one lucky SOB to find it in a specialty store, if you're near one. Just get it off ebay ar lik-sang.com. You can use a money order if you want, its not that hard dude.
Heres a shot of mine:

Oh, I just don't want to get it off of a site becasue my dad won't let me. Maybe I could ask my friends to buy it for me, how much does it cost for a N64 and PSX adapter thingy?

Mine costed me about Fourteen Dollar US, including shipping.
What? WTF do you mean your DAD wont let you get one online?
THEN JUST DO THIS:
[1]Just get on the site (lik-sang.com,ebay.com) put it in your shopping cart and go to Checkout or whatever to see how much it is with total tax and shipping and all that, then:
[2]Go to the nearst Grocery store, Gas Station, Convienient store, or Bank; And spend the whopping 75 to 95 cents it cost to buy a MONEY ORDER for the amount you need to purchase it from the site. Then get an envelope and a stamp.
[3]Get back on the site and go ahead and purchase it and just select money order as the type of payment, prit out whatever it want you to print(puchase order sheet to mail in with the money order). Put it in a envelope and mail it!!!
AND IF YOU DONT WANT THEM TO KNOW JUST SHIP IT TO A FRIENDS HOUSE.
THAT SIMPLE!!! DUH~
You can also go to a Bank and put money on a VISA gift card, and use it as a credit card to purchase it online. Just tell the Bank to make sure the VISA gifcard they carry will work foronline purchases, and if their are any special instructions to do so.
See, to hell with your Dad, if you want it get it. I mean come on, its not like your buying Crack or Porn or a used Yugo.

Yea thanks, that's what I was thinking of doing. And it will only cost $14 for a N64 and PSX one? Does that mean put together, or each?

What R U talkin' about, didnt you see the Pic? the one adapter works for both N64 and PSX(or PS2). There is a switch on the side of it to change between the two.
And yep, you can find in on Ebay for sure, i just checked, i think lik-sang is out of stock of it right now.

I hear ya, for PC games designed for it like Farcry or Medal of Honor, I can deal with it, But NOT on an emulator , No way the keyboard friggin' sucks for emu's
