1. does anyone know how to open .img files with pSX, or if it can even be done? bc mine will only open .bin files. and is there a way to convert file formats, .img to .bin and vice-versa?
2. how do you save games in ePSXe? ive tried to save but the information doesnt seem to get recorded
3. on a semi-unrelated note, how do you burn image files back to cd?

Use the Image Burning Wizard in Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools for the 3rd question.

I'd also like to chime in for a bit of psx emulation help. I'm using pSX (Thanks Remorse for recommending this in the main psx emulation thread, it works great!) and I'm wondering how/where I can get a memory card so that I can save the conventional way and not use save states. Do I just type a name and it automatically acts as a memory card? Or do I have to download some sort of virtual memory card.
Thanks in advance!

you just go to the memory card tab in the config menu, and give it a name. then when you save, the emulator will format it like a playstation would for a new memory card and your game will be saved. you just load it like you normally would.
also, another problem i have is this. my bios file is in the correct folder, and the emulator will run (that's not the problem :) ). but whenever i start it up again, it says that a bios is required. i have to re-extract the file into the bios folder, and even after i do that it still gives me the error message. i have to do this at least 5 times every time i try to start the program before it eventually works. anyone else have this problem, and were you able to fix it?

Ahh I see, thanks for the help. I wish I knew the answer to your problem but unfortunately I don't. The only thing I can come up with is maybe you aren't using SCPH1001? I've heard of problems when people use other BIOS.
Edit: Also, I had the same problem with pSX not recognizing img files since the majority of PSX Isos use it. What I do is just run the bin/cue files straight and mount the img files on a virtual drive using alcohol 120% and playing them that way. It should work nicely. As far saving games in ePSXe, no clue, as I like pSX a LOT better.

alright, thanks, ill try that. and yes i am using scph 1001. like i said, it will eventually work fine, i just get ****ed off when i have to do the same operation 5 or so times, every time lol.

I had the same problem with the bios.
So, I went back to using ePSXe and PSXeven.
pSX is a very promising emulator, but it's still too new.
It has some bugs that still need to be ironed out.

actually, i figured out the problem with the bios. it only happens if you try to open the program with a shortcut. if you open the exe file from the actual folder, it works fine. i like pSX better anyway because the graphics are better (by which i mean they more accurately emulate the playstation) and it saves better; i still havent figured out mem card usage in ePSXe.

I never had any problems with PSXfin (v1.4) even with memcards I just copied and renamed then placed and specified their location in the tab givin
works fine for me
PSXfin works best with actual discs, it doesnt seem to act any different if the discs where burned as bin or img files just as long as the burner was set to the correct speed, I even got a disc that failed and I though initally would be the end of that disc but heh heh, PSXfin ran it just fine, givin I had 2 downloading programs and was configuring my display settings so the sou8nd was choppy but I ran it later, and yup, it still works, but because of the sound problem I do not ever from that point on burn at any speed over 4x because the buffer causes failures in some discs for one reason or another.
I use UltraISO for converting all files from their original format (mdf/mfs, bin/cue, img/ccd, ISO) and test eveything for errors, it has worked great and lets me use ePSXe for testing and configuration, some games I found work better on ePSXe but with so many plugins and options it is faster to convert backup and run them on PSXfin
although I have ePSXe working right now for sound and is a little choppy with a 3D megaman game, I got it to work better and without bugs, only chopyness, which seems unplayable in PSXfin. I was wondering if there is another emulator for playstation games that is better...I doubt bleem! a lot since it costs money to use and jinx doesn't visually grab me as a user friendly program but if anyone wants a copy of psxfin ePSXe with all plugins bleem or jinx give me an email =) I have them all archived but since it is againts coolrom rues I cannot share any games
