i agree. The books are way better. In my opinion the movies were complete garbage..... to me it seems as time goes on the actors realized it was easy money and stopped trying as hard.

This for me is one of the times when the movie was better than the book.
I know it sounds odd, but Order the Phoenix was the worst book of the series.

I thought Order of the Phoenix was the second best book after Deathly Hallows.

I see the movies as just movies instead of movies based on books.
That way I don't complain saying TEH BOOK WAS BETTER SO MY VIEWING EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN SPOILT
All is well.

The films are okay. The main cast (Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson) were very unemotive when they were younger...their acting skills don't fit the bill. The rest of the cast such as Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman and Robbie Coltrane almost make up for it, but I find the acting in the movies near unbearable. The thing with the books is, alright, when I was younger and just read books for the stories without looking into it too much, they were very good, but nowadays when I'm looking for thematics and pathos and arguments...they're just sparse and empty. I mean, the basis of the novels seems to be the obligatory awkward coming-of-age morality show mixed with some blatant "be tolerant" moralising. The writing style, too, is very uninspired. I prefer writers who have something characteristic like Haruki Murakami and Kafka's shared use of allegory and deconstruction of theme, JK Rowling is very "and then they did this. harry felt such and such. hagrid was whatever."
This turned into a criticism of the book franchise...with the movies, I enjoy them for the background cast and fantasy elements, but the main characters need to work on emoting before I'll be "touched" so to speak.

No doubt, she's not much of a writer, but if I could write a book poorly in my spare time and make as much cash as she must have made, I'd be all over it.
