I am playing through a game that requires me to press and hold the L&R buttons and then press the a button to advance. I know I have the keys set right, but for some reason zsnes doesn't seem to be able to input the command. Does anyone know how I can configure the controls to make this work?
ps. if you can guess the game I'm playing, you get a cookie:D

Well I'll be gosh darned if zsnes doesn't have an excellent faq thingie that comes with the emulator. Apparently keyboards generally usually don't allow (or better said, restrict) three inputs at once. However, the shift and ctrl keys generally aren't restricted, so I set l and r to them and viola, it works. I know nobody read my question, but hey, maybe some other greenie will see this and learn something new.

Actually, I believe it's just USB keyboards that do that. I know I was able to do it back with my old PS/2 keyboard.

I read your question, but I knew you could figure it out. With 18 minutes between posts you must've figured it out in 14 allowing 4 minutes to test it.
Good Job.:D

You can press whatever 3 buttons on a keyboard you ever wish, as long as they aren't too close together. For example:
L-R-A-B
A-S-Y-X
That combination won't work, but if you set them up like...
L-R-A-B
D-F-C-V
...it should work on nearly every keyboard available out there!
Just take the keyboard apart in groups of nine buttons:
QWE RTZ UIO PÜ*
ASD FGH JKL LÖÄ
YXC VBN M;: _ (German layout) :D
Regarding to this scheme you could press 8 buttons at a time. If you got the C64 emulator and the game IK+ you'll see. You need to press ASTRIK at the same time to drop the pants from the fighters!! :D
Although otherwise I wouldn't be able to "open a door while strafing, jumping and reloading my weapon" on any FPS-game while using the WASD controls...

To be more specific. The faq did say that only certain keys don't work when pushed at the same time, and that I'd have to experiment to find out which ones they are. I didn't really feel like doing that (laziness, you know how it is), so I just went with the surer thing in ctrl and shift. Thanks for the explanation though! I'll probably be able to come up with a better scheme this way.

off topic but is it possible for the zsnes to be played online because it has the multiplayer -> internet options in its commands
