So I'm trying to play this Nintendo 64 game called Harvest Moon. I downloaded the emulator '1964'. And even though they were compatible, the screen went all black after a couple of loads. Whats wrong?

Possibly the graphics plugin; I don't have the game image on disk at the moment but will put it on my next list.

For the moment, how does Project64 (http://www.pj64-emu.com/) work out?

It won't open at all, it just stays black unlike the 1964 which actually loaded a bit. But they are both 'compatible' - or so it says. What's the graphics plugin? And game image on disk? Sorry, I'm a total noobie. ><

According to BigHead's testing, Jabo's graphics plugin should work just fine. I am thinking there is an issue with your graphics card? You know which you're using?

By "the game image on disk", I am referring to, in essential terms of yours maybe, the game itself. I am too lazy to download it at the moment; no point in hiding it. I was somewhat focused on fixing mistakes and taking development of a support project of mine one game at a time henceforward. I am slowly running out of substitution practices I might add.

The graphics plugin is an externally loaded executable binary. 1964 emulates the memory but uses four types of plugins to emulate the other parts: Graphics, Sound, Controller, and RSP .. you see the files for these plugins in 1964\Plugin. Based on what files are in that folder, you see various options available in 1964's plugin change dialoge. Press Ctrl+P, you'll see what I mean. You can choose which external graphics rendering engine a.k.a. graphics plugin to use, but, 1964 0.9.9 only comes with one, and it is not very good for this game. You want to download another graphics plugin to 1964\Plugin and use that.

Possibly, try using one of the other two plugins mentioned as compatible, Rice's Video Plugin (https://ricevideo.bountysource.com/) and Glide64 (http://glide64.emuxhaven.net/).

Project64 uses Jabo's Direct3D. In Project64, Options > Configure Graphics Plugin, returns a dialoge with the name of your graphics card in blue at the top-left. Would be helpful if you provided that information, thanks.
