I just tried downloading the Harvest Moon rom; it was successful in downloading but after trying to open it my computer couldn't find it. Do I need to download an emulator to be able to play it on the computer? If so, how can I find one?

Thank you

Welcome to the emulation scene!

Complete this little survey so i can help you emulate Harvest Moon:

1. What system is the ROM for? If you are not sure, the suffix will do.
2. Have you saved the ROM in an easy to access folder? Can you see it in Windows Explorer?

From here, it's a case of identifying a compatible emulator and booting the ROM, i just need some more information!

Oh, I'm not into Nintendo that much, so if it's obvious that Harvest Moon is a NES game or whatever, i didn't know.

I love how people sometimes only download the ROMs and expect them to work XD anyways, ROMs are only part of what you need, just head to the Emulation section of this site to get the proper version.
EX-> the Emulator is like the System/hardware that you need to play games. The ROM is like the cartage that houses the game/software. When combined then magic happens XD

It would be much simpler that way! Unfortunatley that's not the case, and emulation takes a lot of fiddling about to get going smoothly.

Thank you for replying; I decided to do some research and found the type of emulator I needed and it worked.

I'm not much of a techie, so I'm not surprised it was funny. ;) The only thing I'm used to is installing and downloading, which to say in my defense is why I instantly downloaded the game without the emulator. :D

Sure thing, people here are usually willing to help so keep asking =)
Also, for the most part, anything older then 3rd Generation Emulation doesn't require too much fiddling around with settings. Once you start trying to get newer ones to work then video, audio, etc plug-ins start getting in the way XP
