My internet is messed up on my desktop. I can use Mozilla browser but not IE. No programs that use the internet work either such as my Gmail Notifier, Weather Bug, Windows Automatic Updates, MSN ect. Mozilla browser works fine. I have my desktop and laptop hooked to a router and I can use IE, and the other programs on my laptop so I don't think it has anything to do with the router. I've hit the reset button on it a few time though and it didn't solve anything. This happened when my pc shut down for no reason, and after I rebooted it said "windows has recovered from a serious error" Anybody have any idea on how I could get my programs to connect to the internet again?
I found this connection that I have never noticed before, it says connected but isn't sending any or receiver data, while the other connection is. I tried repairing the connection by going to the support tab and repair and get this error
"Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the follow action could not be completed: TCP/IP is not enabled for this connection. Cannot proceed"
How do I enable the TCP/IP and why is this new connection even showing up? its called 1394 Connection then I got my regular Local Area connection that has always been there
EDIT: I figured it out, I went to IE>tools>connection>LAN Settings and for some reason the LAN Settings were set to use the proxy server 127.0.0.1 with port 7212 so I set it back to automaticly detect settings. I would still like to know why it got messed up like that and why I got a new connection, anybody know?
