Problems with new Chrono Trigger ROM

I just recently downloaded the ROM for the new Chrono Trigger DS game, but it won't work. I can start it up and play the game for a bit, but once I go through the rift, it gets stuck on the movie of moving through the rift. (Blue swirls everywhere.)

Is there something I'm missing? Or is the ROM just bad?
I have an R4 running version 1.18

Any help is appreciated.
