Hello out there, this is not my first attempt at downloading emulators and roms. This is the first time I have been going at it by myself however.

So I will ask a couple questions if any are against forum rules just lock me down, I don't think any are though.

Okay I currently have; N64, SNES, and GBA emulators they are running fine and are easy to use. I think this is because they were not cd based games. Am I correct in that, because I have a very difficult time trying to get my brain around downloading Playstation or Saturn emulators.

Second I was able to download the easy Playstation emulator, the name escapes me at this time. I even found and placed the bios on. It was time to download a game.

I went to download a game, it was in ISO form.

So that means I have to install WinRAR?

When I downloaded the game which was in parts they went into seperate places, then trying to place them on my desktop they said they needed this part and etc.

When I had all parts up it says it was missing things, so basically my question is how do you download ISO's?

Lastly as far as Emulators go, does the old 3DO get any love? I loved that system and many hours were lost to some fine games.

BTW what are some other easy Emulators to download? This personally seems the safest and best site to download them on, but what other systems will I not need to jump through hoops to play.

Thanks much, and you will be hearing much more from me on these boards.

First cd based games aren't that difficult to play as long as you use the right emu with the right specs, pSX 1.13 is the easiest for psx games and SSF 0.10 for saturn, the only difficulty with saturn games is you need either a virtual drive to mount the iso's or you need to burn them to disks.

Second about the iso's you can download 7zip and use it instead for most extractions: http://www.7-zip.org/
With 7zip just highlight all the parts and extract them together.

The 3DO has 1 emulator, FreeDO but it's not that great i hear, i've never tried it myself.

For reccomended emulators by system (not going into illegal ones like gamecube ones though):

NES:nesticle or virtual NES

SNES:ZSNES(really, only a few games like shin megami tensei 1 don't run right in it, for those use SNES9X)

N64)project 64 or 1964, project 64 is the better of the 2 imo.

GBA/GBC:virtual boy advance

Sega genesis/game gear master/system/sega CD:fusion 351(gens is good too, but fusion seems to run better, gens has slightly better compatability though)

Saturn:SSF 0.10

PSX)pSX 1.13 and Epsxe 1.70 (they both run games the other one won't)

PC-Engine/Turbographics 16:magic engine or HUgo(magic engine isn't freeware, though it's definitely the best pc-engine emu)

Neo Geo CD:Neoraine(really only use this for samurai showdown RPG, since all other neo geo games run better on MAME as arcade games)

Arcade:mameppk_bin_gcc-0.119-20070914(i reccomend this specific version, ver 0.119 for it's great functionality, the newer ones don't recognize every bios right from my experience, remember it's the one made on 09/14/2007)

For CD based systems, i find mouting the ISO (Which is basically the image, or a direct clone of a CD) to a virtual CD drive the easiest route. This means fooling the computer into thinking you have the game CD in the drive, so the emulator can just read off the ISO. Simple, no?

To do this, you need Daemon Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php) which allows you to create a virtual drive and mount an ISO image.

My method is different to tatsuya's, so use whatever seems easier for yourself.

I'm going to try and put some of these ideas to good use tonight.

Thanks.
